#1 grunge era album, all-time classic, masterpiece from Curt Cobain and Company.

Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
95

Top 3 grunge era album and still a bit underrated. Chris Cornell was arguably the best grunge vocalist. The top 3 tracks of this album are absolutely insane and must be cranked at high levels only! The rest of the album is solid with a high number of 4 star tracks like Room A Thousand Years Wide, Jesus Christ Pose, etc.

Digital Underground - Sex Packets
81

Everyone knows The Humpty Dance, but there are actually 6 pretty solid tracks on this party rap album. The absolute banger that no one ever mentions is Gutfest 89, my favorite track on the album. They have a way of bringing some comedy into this one and The Packet Man. Find myself grooving along and then comes a line that makes you spit out your drink the first couple times you hear it. Doowutchyalike is another solid underrated track.

A Tribe Called Quest - People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm
86

A little underrated debut jazz-rap album. Better than their more critically acclaimed follow-up, The Low End Theory.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
67

Highly overrated. Their debut album is so much better.

Good Neighbours - Blue Sky Mentality
79

Cause who doesn’t need some good vibes in their life? Simple fun Indie pop, not everything has to be out there and complicated. Some of the tracks sound eerily familiar to Goth Babe with different vocals, so I marked it down a notch for that.

Joanne Robertson - Blurrr
50

Sleeping pill execs take notice! This album is going to put you out of business! All others, sample one song, if you don’t dig it, move along. They basically all sound the same.

Swans - Birthing
25

Swans? Sounds more like black oil covered swans swimming to their death at the Exxon Valdez. Please do not listen to this if anywhere near depressed.

Ninajirachi - I Love My Computer
77

I missed the ipod touch age (my kids had them) and have no desire to f**k my computer, but this is a pretty solid electro pop album. My favorite song was actually the leadoff track, London Song. That one got me groovin’ from the get go!

Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun
59

Gets off to ok start, Blue Moon is a banger. Then it goes south fast on Pretty Ugly sounding like a Swedish Kesha knockoff. That continues for a another track or two until it comes back around to your run of the mill dance pop album with no other real standouts.

Pile - Sunshine and Balance Beams
45

Revenge of the nerds franchise rock band? It’s a Pile alright, but Pile of what?

Beach House - Bloom
50

I like Myth, other than that, this might be the most overrated dream pop album of all time. The band is well enough, just not a fan of Victoria Legrand’s vocals. Not much song variation, they all sound kind of flat and boring.

Cardiacs - LSD
45

Just grabbed a brick off my back patio, marched inside, launched it through my flatscreen yelling, what the H E double hockey sticks are these critics thinking! I suppose thats my way of saying overrated. RIP Tim Smith and respects to the long time band for creating a devoted following, I just don’t get it.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise - bones
60

The first couple songs actually arent too bad, more so Hel Nah. But then, it falls off a cliff with super cheesy lyrics at times and a host of other problems, mainly, the band trying to sound like something it is not, which is alt pop. Like many, i’m a fan of older RKS, not RKS gone bad!

Olivia Dean - The Art of Loving
80

A great current pop soul album with a bit of an old soul flair. Great lyrics about love and life that you can slow groove too. Nice to each other is definitely the top track, amazing tune! Other top tracks are Close Up, So easy, Something Inbetween and Baby Steps.

Maruja - Pain to Power
78

There is so much to like here. I want to rate it a lot higher. Some great jazz rock punk fusion, like nothing i’ve ever heard before. Real raw lyrics. Bloodsport is the best song on the album and the one that really clicks for me. Thats the thing, the rest have so many great individual components, but when you roll it all up together musically, it’s a bit clunky for me. I’ll admit my attention span has trouble with 10 minute songs! As said in Saoirse, “our ... read more

Suede - Antidepressants
71

Disintegrate gets the album off to an amazing start! The follow up track, Dancing With the Europeans, is solid and kind of portrays how I sometimes feel with music these days. I seem to like more Brit everything and definitely seem to have a “European stain within me”. But it drops off after that until Trance State. That song does just that, grabs you right away with some heavy drum beats and doesn’t let go, until it kind of drags on for maybe a minute too long. Overall, ... read more

Nation of Language - Dance Called Memory
67

Under the Water is great and Inept Apollo is solid. Otherwise its run of the mill average synth pop. I was kinda excited for this one and left underwhelmed and mildy disappointed.

Deafheaven - Lonely People With Power
25

Instrumentation is cool and on point, but those vocals though? Did they record this on a submarine? They are all muted, which I suppose is good, because they are terrible!

Guerilla Toss - You're Weird Now
58

Is weird rock really a thing now? Things that came to mind listening to this album on three….one….two….three:

Bratty Teenage Girls
Bubble Gum - Lot’s of bubble gum!
Aqua Net Hairspray - Big Hairdo’s
Disney Kids
Junior High School
Neon - Everyone is dressed in Neon!
