Throughout Yo La Tengo's career of assembling albums tightly knit with a blend of bombastic noise pop and beautiful indie rock, this record marks the first time they near completely lean in to the ladder of their two main styles. This simple stylistic choice and shift brings something enlightening to the greater scope of Yo La Tengo, something so remarkable it is enough for me to easily regard it as their magnum opus.

Changes will likely immediately evoke a "I know this from somewhere," whether that certain somewhere is apparent or not. Changes is a pretty good dubstep song with its catchy, haunting vocal sample and pounding bass, but it isn't worth mentioning too much in a review where the focus is the other song in this release.
