Carly Rae Jepson surprises fans by continuing the "Dedicated" cycle with a project that despite it's spontaneity, presents itself as fantastic record with plenty of dazzling, expertly produced pop ventures. With assertive lyrics and beaming instrumentals, "Dedicated Side B" is a lovably bright application of ever-so effective dance pop techniques. The introductory track, "This Love Isn't Crazy" lets the audience know immediately the extent to which Jepsen will ... read more

"WUNNA" is a hypnotizing episode of trap flavours and un-enthused, but transfixing vocal performances. By no means is this exceptional in it's genre, but stands out from other contemporary releases, as a strangely absorptive experience. From the lavish, energetic instrumental on lead single, "SKYBOX" to the sedative drive of "MOTW", this LP while not incredibly substantive, is pleasantly mood-heavy. "DOLLAZ ON MY HEAD", featuring an ever-solid Young Thug ... read more

“Who’s to say tomorrow won’t be the best day of your life?” – Matt Healy

The 1975 have always been about teenage delusion, beautiful encounters and social allure. From the perspective of a hedonistic extrovert (Matt Healy), their debut self-titled album was a primitive but still wildly captivating experience that boasted radio-ready hooks and frivolous demeanour. It was a juvenile wonder, something that radiated despite it’s lack of clear poetic relevance or ... read more

Cloud rap's own lawless virtuoso, Yung Lean, returns with a project that feels contemplative in ambience and vague in artistry. This LP circulates the intriguing mind of a lost soul, that roams suburban worlds through murky instrumentation and skeletal beats. Tracks like the mesmerising, low-key cut "Boylife in EU" and the curdling, bare-bones plateau, "Dance in the Dark" pose an album that's strengths lie in low turbulence but intense mood. "Butterfly Paralyzed" ... read more

Jhene Aiko blissfully enters a neo-soul tinged world of R&B, that while unvaried in sonic intent, can be quite infectious. "Chilombo" both lyrically and sonically is alluring and revolves on an easily digestible flow and thematic ground. From the silky textures, and defiant expression of "Speak" to the engulfing instrumentation on "Surrender", this LP could be shunned for it's inability to excite the genre, but to appreciate this album fully, its present lustre ... read more
