I can't believe I've failed to rate and review these guys before considering they're one of my favorite bands, but I guess I'll make up for it today. I stumbled across them completely at random while searching for something else on spotify when I came across their track Eyes of a Cloud Catcher on this very album. From the opening drum lead in beautifully paired with soft piano melodies, I was hooked. I had to hear the rest and what I got definitely did not disappoint.

I've relistened to this album so many times since it released and while it has grown on me over time, I never see this reaching the monumental peak that is Flower Boy. FB has much more layered and introspective writing, stronger hooks, better singing (which is a problem considering THIS is the neo-soul, r&b album), and the features are utilized to far greater effect. For real, so many of these guests serve basically no purpose (hi Carti and Ye). Now don't get me wrong, the high points are ... read more

The first 5 tracks of this album honestly had me thinking we'd be getting a truly monumental release.

For real, the set up to this project is absolutely genius as we see Droog take the position as this anonymous figure who holds the key to time traveling as he interacts with others and transports them to their past lives to show either where things went wrong or to a point of simplicity and bliss. This is such an intriguing concept ripe with potential and while we do get songs that connect to ... read more

The mixing on this is ROUGH, but it's got a few solid tracks and Blu still does his thing.

The rap rock tracks are better than they were on the last album, but they're still not working for me entirely. At least the melodies have gotten a fair bit stronger. The pure rap tracks are about as solid as ever with special mention going to Rih, A+, and Much Money. Overall it's an improvement on the last album and I plan to keep an eye on him. Oh, and what the hell was that Jid impression on the 2nd half of Play Ball? That really caught me off guard and now with these two projects under his ... read more

This guy clearly has a lot of potential as shown in the first 2 tracks and the last one, but he needs more time to fully realize his sound and if you ask me, he needs to stay away from the rap rock stuff. His singing voice isn't horrible, but at times it gets pretty awkward and the instrumentation feels rather sloppy and unfinished. Take anti-gravity for example. That song just sounds awful once it gets going. If he wants to continue to make more singing cuts, I believe that songs like Angels ... read more
