Korn - Requiem

Considering this is album number fourteen from Korn, and that at least half of those preceding releases were far from classics, to sign off this bad boy with a song titled 'The Worst is Yet to Come' is quite the threat.

While the song writing here IS at its most consistent since 'Untouchables' from way back in 2002, these tracks still feel locked in ‘we must race to the chorus’ mode much of the time.

Too many times the band launch into the (invariably melodic, pop’y) chorus after what seems like five seconds - and as a result these songs come over a bit desperate to make an instant impression.

Formulaic is ok but ‘formulaic in a rush’ can all too quickly become a chore to listen too.
