Had no idea Waterflame could get this heavy holy fuck, this is Electro House heaven
Just got into Knock2 after this album came out, and I'm very glad I did. This album is packed to the brim with energy and I fucking love it. rookie is one is the best album openers ever, and really let's you know what you're getting into. The melodies and sound design here are catchy as all hell, and the genre switch ups are super fun and maintain that same energy. There's only one song here i'd call a miss (day1s) but it does little to affect the rest of the album. ... read more
Bossfight is probably one of the best dubstep artists out there, and one of my favorite artists in general. This EP, while not as good as Agony District, is still great. Sound design is on point, Genre switch-ups are fun, and is overall a great EP. The collab with Virus Syndicate is a banger, and the psytrance drops in U Got Me go HARD which isn't saying much since the entire EP goes hard. Badmash reminds me of Boom Kitty with its Egyptian esque trumpets in the off-drops (or maybe ... read more
Never really got why everyone obsessed over this song for a solid 5 months. I mean, yeah, the Drake beef, but the song itself is just decent.. Sure the rapping is good, but there isn't much variation in the song and it gets kinda boring quick. The sound design and melody are also just decent.
Also, I've seen this review which puts the argument in a new light, and I recommend you check it out. https://www.albumoftheyear.org/user/brey/album/949421-not-like-us/#google_vignette
An amazing return to form for TheFatRat, he just has one of the most unique styles of music I've heard. I could probably listen to any track out there and be able to tell if it was made by TheFatRat.
The songs on this short EP are all some of TheFatRat's best songs in years. Ray Tracer is very reminiscent of Monody, which is in my top 10 favorite songs of all time. It has great vocals, an amazing melody, with some insanely cool bagpipe instrumentation in the middle. Or at least I ... read more
Peak dubstep. Peak RIOT. Just peak.
This album could be made into its own movie. I can't say that about many other albums. I love this album so much, the narrative is executed amazingly, the sound design is awesome, all these aspects come together to make one hell of an experience that you won't find anywhere else in music. Overkill is peak in its own right, along with all the other songs too.
Fuck, Monstercat, just commission an animated movie out of this album already, DO IT.
The lyrics/vocals are a bit lacking and don't flow too well at times in my opinion. That's the only complaint I have.
I Contain Flashing Images is one of my favorite albums, so I was pretty hyped to see No Mana come out with a new EP. This EP definitely reminds me of Dimrain47, and I've seen lots of other people say it reminds them of Porter Robinson's Virtual Self alias/EP (which I need to listen to).
Anyway, this EP isn't like No Mana's previous works at all. The main Genres here are Trance, Breaks, and Techno. My favorite of the EP is either Forget About Us or Losing Focus, and my least ... read more
My very first review.
Anyway, Elektronomia! One of my favorite artists (if not my favorite) of all time. His debut NCS release is definitely in his signature commercial house style, and while not being his best NCS release in my opinion, it's definitely great for me. It's better than Limitless, which to me just sounds like a slightly downgraded version of this. The energy here is amazing, the melody is nostalgic, and the build ups are great. The drops definitely live up to the hype ... read more
