Extremely sad album about grief and death. You can feel the emotions running their course throughout the albums runtime, especially on the title track. Instrumentally, it's a perfect mix of the heavier and tribal sides of TOOL. In my eyes, this is their best album. My favorites were Intension, Jambi, and Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned.
Literally almost every song in this record is an absolute banger. I wasn't a fan of The Ol' Diamondback Sturgeon but it still doesn't effect my rating, as the masterpieces on this album completely overshadow it's flaws. Very fun album. Skeleton Appreciation Day along with Cover This Song are absolute bangers. The First Step is great too, very hard rock mixed with ragtime and cabaret is a surprisingly good match. I like the piano piece at the start of Everything is a Lot, too bad the rest of it is just weird and not in a good way. Absolute joy.
Wonderful little album, one of my favorites as of now. Extremely experimental and snazzy. This album licks my brain in all the right ways. My favorite track was between Frank's Wild Years, Underground, or Swordfishtrombone since all of them are of equal quality.
