I dig pre-gap stuff but if you don't have the right CD player, forget about it. I don't even have a CD player now so forget about the rest too i guess. This is my favorite TMBG album in any case. Cripes what a fun band.
I'm not a 'music is background noise' person, but this is background noise. *Good* background noise, mind, but still background noise, and nothing i can place much listening value on. Maybe if i get high first? Meanwhile the title track just makes me want to put on "Trois Gymnopedies" instead.
Owned this once upon a time and while it never really caught on and i later parted with it, it isn't a bad listen. Nor is it one i remember 10 minutes later, however.
Got this one through either RCA/BMG Music Service or Columbia House (i was a member of both and yes, i did pay all my bills) on the strength of "Modern Day Cowboy" before hearing anything else from it, but wasn't overly impressed otherwise. Raspy blues vocals have simply never been my thing and they're here in spades. It was really the vocals that killed it for me.
I was one of those who, upon first hearing "Plush", dismissed Stone Temple Pilots as 'Pearl Jam clones'. Over time i came to my senses and by this point whatever it was i was hearing then, i don't hear at all anymore. This isn't a perfect album by any means, but there's some solid material herein.
