i've grown out of stuff like this; maximalist theater kid stuff -- but i'd be lying as hell if i was to say Jhariah's vocals, the production, and songwriting was close to boring. i don't find this the most tasteful stuff and it'd probably piss me off if i listened to this on the wrong day; but i still find this really interesting, fun and its execution lands great enough.
what the fuck!!!! i was nearing the edge of breaking down at the end holy shit man
it's cold, and it's dark, and it's just you
this album is like...
a warm, little light to stay by your side
amazing versions of already amazing songs, holy shit
nr.... hmm... doesn't feel right to give one but yeah this is fucking amazing
usually, i take quite a bit of time getting to a few songs from an album before i listen to it all the way... this one just hooked me in immediately. so fun, restless, and brings me up every time, and i just can't ever get bored of it it seems.
such passionate, wonderful playing from all of Cap'n Jazz making each track so lively. i don't remember where i read this, but one said this album's instrumentation is the perfect balance of "sloppiness" and virtuosity ... read more
this album makes me smile a lot. some songs are beautiful and raw, some are weird and naïve, some are in-between. but all of them are really charming. i'm never bored with this album
87 -> 92 yeah okay this is just so good. such a comforting world this one makes. i wanna live inside it.
breathtaking stuff, man. so many layers the band has delicately tied together (especially Part 5 oh my god my mouth was wide open all throughout) -- its 35 minutes is an Endless trip
(this was copied from my response to a shout on last.fm)
loved it!!!!! the energy this band has live is just so fucking good. live renditions of SD.SU and The Gloaming are multiple steps better than the original, with the whole album just feeling much more angrier and especially sounding tighter (Thom's so angry on 2+2=5, you can't even understand a word anymore XD)
another thing i'd love to point out is MYXOMATOSIS oh my god. definitely the best track on here. the guitar ... read more
idk why but listening to this just breaks my heart. it's so intimate and heartfelt cuz it's so simple, and throughout it i felt like i was beside a friend who's singing me sweet little songs. his voice is rough and he's somewhat sick, trying to sing these songs best as he could. yes, not too much variety and the awful recording quality does take away, but overall it's a charming piece of music.
god.. i hope the guy behind this is still around and doing well
maybe gorenoise isn't my thing, but the mix of samples of spoke-word placed in between its brutal sound were at times haunting, and the music does storytelling well
although hard rock from this time isn't really my thing, i have to respect Black Sabbath for their undeniable influence on rock and metal, and that they're the root of so many of the genres i've come to love. this album is a fucking blast. just wished the remaster on spotify was better! RIP Ozzy Osborne!
I had listened to this just now, on the news of Brian Wilson's death. Now, to start, I'm not the most familiar with Beach Boys. I've heard some of their hits (which I loved) but never really gave them my time. I knew they were the biggest and most influential names in pop music and they've inspired countless bands and artists I listen much more to (Tally Hall, my bloody valentine, Stereolab, etc.) and I understand now just how much they've inspired, having picked up ... read more
Mount Eerie, "A Crow Looked at Me" (2017)
genres: singer-songwriter, indie folk, slowcore
fuck. where do i start? where do i end? this album truly broke me. in its forty or so minutes, the slow-moving, brooding forty minutes... it wrapped me in this strong warmth that guided me in what felt like an entire night had passed. like there was nothing but me, a storyteller, a campfire, and that storyteller's guitar. with that, i've never heard an album this intimate, close, and ... read more
guys no no no no i'm so sorry but uhmmmm i kinda just very very slightly fw this ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
usual j-pop that's in an interesting mix with some pretty nice, dreamy, and bright shoegaze with field ambience in between... overall quite cool and fun but though simple. but oh my god. the highlight of this "single" (seventy-two minutes, way beyond an album at this point) is definitely the fifty minutes of harsh noise that's strangely soothing and hypnotic. not the most into harsh noise, but this definitely opened my eyes on it. however, it did lack dynamics, and fifty ... read more
a fun listen! it's exciting, fresh, and sweet. simple, but that doesn't subtract anything in any way with how much of a killer album this is! sure, there are some weaker tracks especially at its tail end, but it's still all around a headbobber.
