Chappell Roan - The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess
89

When I first heard about Chappell Roan through music news that cover primarily Billboard charting music, I thought she would be a female pop artist who is successful through doing the bare minimum for the genre with maybe an impressive vocal performance, well produced and groovy beat, or catchy chorus on a song here and there.

…I couldn’t have been more wrong.

“The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess” is an album that achieves what a lot of mainstream pop artists ... read more

Lawrence - Breakfast
25

I took part in an album bracket with a bunch of college music majors and this album beat one of my album picks. I didn’t think the other voters were gonna love eccentric experimental hip hop music, so I submitted just to get people to hear something new. However, it still hurt me that this soulless Target ad of an album got more votes in a round of an album bracket against The Money Store by Death Grips.

I was gonna write a longer review, but this boring-nothing of an album ... read more

Converge - No Heroes
85

“No Heroes” is one of Converge’s most wild albums. Mainly due to how fast paced the whole album is, which is unfortunately one of my main gripes with the album. Most of the tracklist consists of 2 minute or less songs that briefly speed through their runtime and prevent a lot of amazing instrumentals and vocals from really leaving a lasting impression that makes this one of Converge’s least memorable albums.

Although it’s not one of the best Converge albums, it is ... read more

Thornhill - BODIES
25

This Thornhill album… is NOT GOOD.

Now it's no secret that Deftones are one of the most influential metal bands of all time. Alternative metal would likely not be as big nor in vast demand as it is today if they didn’t exist and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with being inspired by a band, album, or song when writing music. Many genres of music wouldn’t exist today without inspiration from other artists.

However, when it comes to being influenced by another ... read more

Quadeca - FORGONE
100

This nearly 8 minute long piece of beautiful music is Quadeca's most bold song to date

Quadeca - MONDAY
99

This single takes what I like from Quadeca's previous work and weaves it all together very nicely

Quadeca - GODSTAINED
99

Vocally, this is one of Quadeca's best songs

LustSickPuppy - CAROUSEL FROM HELL
85

An album in the industrial hip hop and digital hardcore genres titled "CAROUSEL FROM HELL" made by an rapper named "LustSickPuppy" goes about as hard as you think it does

The Last Dinner Party - This Is The Killer Speaking
85

They’re still nailing those group vocals

Currents - It Only Gets Darker
60

Even though I found this Currents single to have a structure and direction that is very boilerplate, some of the instrumentals I found to be pretty neat and it’s better produced than any song off of their last album, “The Death We Seek”

I Prevail - Rain
15

I didn't think it was possible for I Prevail to sound more generic and bland but this single proved me wrong

PRESIDENT - RAGE
10

PRESIDENT on this single continue to release terrible music with bland vocals that have unnecessary effects on them and extremely generic instrumentals that would blend in with almost everything you could hear on the radio over the past few years

Slaughter to Prevail - GRIZZLY
0

Anyone who listens to and enjoys this album is either a clueless idiot OR an idiot that is just as homophobic, racist, ableist, and any other term used to describe having a negative viewpoint of a certain type of human being as the band’s neo-Nazi vocalist Alex Terrible.

It would be one thing if the music being made on “GRIZZLY” was actually good, featured some messed up songs where it's fascinatingly designed to hate the character in the music, and was backed with some ... read more

Quadeca - SCRAPYARD
90

“SCRAPYARD” by Quadeca is a mixtape that is even more stylistically daring than his 2022 album “I Didn't Mean To Haunt You.”

It really is remarkable how Quadeca is able to tackle such a vast range of genres like indie folk, art pop, rage and even a bit of hyperpop and pull it off. It really makes the whole mixtape feel like a playlist of different songs made by other good artists. Which can be a slight downside to an album like that since it can be hard to sit ... read more

Soulkeeper - Join Us In Creating Excellence
89

Good to see that Soulkeeper are still pushing the boundaries of how intense, chaotic, and unpredictable mathcore can get when infused with electronics on this single

Drain - Stealing Happiness From Tomorrow
89

Might be Drain's most jam-packed song to date. This having a really nice buildup at the start makes this a great album opener by crossover thrash standards.

79

Some of the vocal inflections that I find unnecessary from the main vocalist are on here and the lyrics are maybe a bit too repetitive. However, I enjoy the song’s creepy atmosphere and tight instrumentation.

clipping. - CLPPNG
95

“CLPPNG” is an extremely zany abstract, experimental, and industrial hip hop album that explores more deep lyrical content and has a more creative use of beats than the debut clipping. album “midcity.”

Even when analyzing just the surface of the tracks across the album, one can find a lot of substantial ideas and creations. “Body & Blood” is about a woman who lures men in with sex in order to kill them. The song’s title, as well as part of the ... read more

Model/Actriz - Pirouette
85

“Pirouette” by Model/Actriz is an album with a wide sonic range that is a stronger execution than their debut LP “Dogsbody.”

I personally think “Dogsbody” drags a little bit with the softer moments of the album. However, I still found it to be one of the most sonically bold rock albums of the past couple years. Model/Actriz’s spin on dance punk by infusing it with noise industrial rock made them distinctive than most bands they’re sharing the ... read more

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
100

Definitely overplayed, but also a masterclass in how to write a satisfying song

On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"The instrumentals accompany the lyrics more properly on dark sun than this album. Like the instrumentals in Pale Moonlight are so dumb because it has lyrics about someone (potentially Rory) 'dancing with the devil' to where it's harming them, and it sounds like a radio rock song meant to motivate people. Like shouldn't the song sound sad or at least off putting?"
On Dayseeker - Creature In The Black Night
"@PoisonBow I haven't listened to dark sun in a while, I don't like either album but I think it is better than creature in the black night because the lyrics and song meanings have a bit more effort into them. Like with Parallel about his father passing away, or with Paper Hearts about Rory sharing that he has been so overwhelmed by the weight of the world that he has a suicidal thought about dying in a car crash"

"@tn3t3ta How can you hate me so much, yet know nothing about me? I’ve given a lot of metalcore albums high ratings. I recently gave the new dying wish album, a metalcore band, a rating definitely higher than a 3/10. There’s nothing wrong with disagreeing with me, but don’t spread misinformation."
On PRESIDENT - King of Terrors
"@RemisReviews I don’t think I’ve ever said in my life that pop vocals make something bad. For the genre comment, it is my believe that these bands are more closer to pop than metal. A lot of their songs are just pop tunes featuring metal breakdowns and basic small elements of other genres."

On HomeSession3's review of Slaughter to Prevail - GRIZZLY
"a score of 50 being a "awful score" to me doesn't make any sense cause you're ignoring half of the numbers of quality you could be using to score an album (49 - 0). If you thought this album was worse than a 5/10 "middle of the road score" than you should rate it lower."
