Miley Cyrus creates a very cinematic pop song with "Something Beautiful"
As someone who never really liked Miley Cyrus’s music, I never expected her to make and release an album that I thought was worth coming back to. Yet, “Something Beautiful” is one of the best pop albums that 2025 has to offer. Listening to this front to back, you can feel that she put a lot of effort and passion into this. I do think some lyrics across the album are a little weak. However, the production is insane, the instrumentals are both catchy and diverse, and it features ... read more
"Magic, Alive!" is as transcendent, groovy, tight, and a deeply lyrical jazz rap listening experience as McKinley’s last album “Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!?” while offering even more diversions due to the songwriting and the incredible features.
Ironic that an album titled “NEVER ENOUGH” left me unsatisfied and wanting more.
I’ve been a fan of Turnstile ever since I listened to their first album “Nonstop Feeling.” “Time & Space” I also really enjoy coming back to from time to time. However Turnstile’s last album, “GLOW ON,” I found to be their best material. It was a very forward thinking punk album that really showcased what a band could create when mixing elements from ... read more
BABYMETAL on this single bring out a fresh execution of alternative metal from both them and Poppy that I haven't heard in a couple years. Jordan Fish's production on here also seems to have improved dynamically from the last couple of albums he's produced.
One of Orthodox's more standard tracks with somewhat predictable songwriting and average performances for the metalcore genre
One of the best nu metal albums of all time that is worth listening and relistening to.
Despite a genre that is one of the more laid back subgenres of metal, Slipknot’s self titled debut album is a very ferocious album with it’s vocals and lyrics filled with pure rage from frontman Corey Taylor. Not to mention tight, fast-paced drumming from Joey Jordison, and guitarwork from Mick Thompson, Jim Root, and Paul Gray is multi-phased and catchy without taking away from everything ... read more
Clean vocals and hardcore breakdowns don't mix as well as they could on Age of Apocalypse's "In Oblivion"
“What’s Your Pleasure?” by Jessie Ware is one of the most humanly relatable and comforting albums of the decade.
Whether it be with upbeat tracks like “Ooh La La” and “Step Into My Life” or subdued tracks like “Spotlight” and “The Kill,” they all feature vocals from Jessie that are performed appropriately with confident energy and sensual emotion. I think the album is structured in a clever way where the most danceable tracks ... read more
This is like if the word "yapping" was an album.
I'm not even sure if this can be considered an LP of music, especially considering the instrumentals are basic stock music for an RPG video game. The spoken word is unintentionally hilariously bad to where occasionally you're entertained just by how ridiculously over the top and stupid the lyrics are combined with their cheesy delivery. However, most of the time I'm just struggling to understand why Jon Schaffer would ... read more
“It's All Feast Or Famine” by Touchdown Jesus is the most forward thinking rock EPs I've heard this year.
The genre melding of different rock subgenres including jazz, punk, math, and art rock are executed tightly on this EP to where nothing instrumentally feels out of place. The vocal performances can be just as wild as the instrumentals. Ranging from vocals that sound inspired by “Les Claypool” from “Primus,” to distressed shouting vocals, to ... read more
A pretty fierce metalcore track. I like the part in the middle where they had a breakdown speed up before going into another different and slower breakdown.
You know what, I actually don't hate this.
When I first heard this, it was definitely jarring because of the completely unchanged sample of "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye. But I feel Doechii does a good job with her vocals to add something new and fun with the sample. Compare that to something like a current David Guetta type single where it feels like it's the original song but with lazy lyrics writing and no human soul put into it. I could see how some of the ... read more
I really wanted to love this, but I had some issues with it. The vocal effects on the clean vocals are off-putting and unnecessary. I don't think the band does successfully connect the heavy instrumentals with the clean vocals really well in the bridge. I personally don't care for the mixing of the track as I found the technical guitar parts of the track to become lost and make the more basic moments of the track stick out more.
Not only is this a song that lacks any distinction other than a terrible vocal performance, but I wouldn't be able to pick it out of a crowd of songs by other radio charting artists
Pleasantly surprised by this single. This sounds like a proper progression from their previous album "GLOW ON." I do think the second half of the song could've offered more, but this is still better than the previous singles for the band's upcoming album "NEVER ENOUGH."
While I wouldn't say it's insufferable to listen to, like the band's other tracks, this song just sounds like the Dollar Tree version of a song off of "Hybrid Theory" by Linkin Park
