I'm very worried about the new Turnstile album if I think all the singles for it so far have left me unsatisfied in someway.
"SEEIN' STARS" is a very run of the mill alternative rock track that sounds more like an interlude rather than a regular track.
I like the main riff of "BIRDS" and how aggressive the song gets when it starts going. However, the second half of the track I think is instrumentally lacking and too repetitive.
Sludge metal band Sumac teams up with abstract hip hop artist Moor Mother to create an album that is filled to the brim with deep lyrics accompanied by well crafted metal instrumentals that really emphasizes the lyrical content and lets you feel its aching fury. Sumac and Moor Mother really push themselves on "The Film" just by mixing their sounds together, especially on the longer tracks like "Scene Two: The Run," "Camera," and "Scene 5: Breathing Fire." ... read more
I'm pretty disappointed with this single by fromjoy. It's too simple of a track that doesn't really go anywhere with its runtime. I honestly think it needed more time in the oven before they released it.
"Well, I know I should be touring, I know these chords are boring."
Even the band acknowledges how bland and uninspired their songwriting is
Despite being a completely improvised instrumental EP, Maruja create a well made listening experience with a constant threat of unpredictability. While I think their other EPs are more memorable and offer more variety, I think this project still has a sound that feels big and full while also showcasing some tight songwriting.
Hard as hell metalcore track with immaculate production that enhances the instrumentals without taking away dynamics
Even as someone who never really cared for this band, I have to say this is their worst song to date. Everything about it is comes across as uninspired, especially the lyrics and vocal melodies. Not to mention it has a forced metal breakdown in its bridge.
It's impressive how an alternative rock band like Foo were able to craft this massive track with powerful performances full of emotion eventually culminating into a climax that stays ringing in your head after you listen to it
Pain of Truth and Sunami on their "Coast To Coast Split" EP deliver some of their strongest instrumentals and performances to date that made this really entertaining to listen to
Pure metalcore adrenaline. XweaponX put a lot of energy, aggression, and heart into this EP as they have done on their previous releases. If you want a short experience with metal breakdowns performed with intense effort, this will likely satisfy you.
This album by A Day To Remember… is NOT GOOD.
A Day To Remember is a band that I have a lot of nostalgia for their earlier albums including “Homesick” and “What Separates Me From You.” While certain aspects of it haven't aged well, they were able to craft a sound that was identifiable and had a clear sense of making sad topics as fun and catchy to listen to. Like with the track “All Signs Point To Lauderdale” where the song about someone who ... read more
“Hurry Up Tomorrow” fits well as the final album in The Weeknd’s album trilogy featuring “After Hours,” and “Dawn FM.” It takes some of the atmospheric late night drive vibe moments from "After Hours," as well as the more spirited dance moments from "Dawn FM," and as well as its own original sound palette offering.
As this is The Weeknd’s biggest single album to date, I had a bit of high expectations for it. I believe it ... read more
"You Fail Me" continues Converge's emotionally violent metalcore sound that was fully defined on the band's previous album "Jane Doe." While I think this album could’ve done a bit more to differentiate itself from “Jane Doe," it still takes metalcore into remarkably dynamic places that are both sequenced and executed well.
Death Grips take the experimental electronics, high energy rapping, groovy percussion, and unforgettably unusual lyrics from "Exmilitary" and turn it up to 11 on "The Money Store." I think it's insane how Death Grips were able to write an album that is unique, potently animated, and catchy to listen to from start to finish. Which is all you could ask for when it comes to making amazing music, as it’s hard for me to listen to one song off of this album and not want ... read more
I'm mixed on this Turnstile single.
I think the singing performances are good and mix with the instrumentals very well. I also like the way it leads into the next track of the album with some nice cohesion. However, I feel as the lead single album opener of the same name, it's a track that is too uneventful and laid back, especially the minute and 45 second outro. Maybe it'll work better in context on the album as opposed to a stand alone single.
Death Grips on their debut mixtape, "Exmilitary," deliver great hip hop tracks with tight percussion, abstract electronics, and highly energized rap flows and hooks. Something that is also really special about this mixtape is the sampling on it, which is out of this world and really shows that sampling can actually be used to create something new and interesting. This is a great album to get help someone get into hip hop music.
"Guys, check out this song by this metal band that blends genres together making them hard to describe and pinpoint their sound."
The song: (sounds like a mixture of Ed Sheeran, Despacito, and Cocomelon)
Edit (69->89): Everybody really does break.
I found this single by XweaponX to be one of the bands weaker tracks due to it being a bit too repetitive with its songwriting compared to their other songs. However, performance-wise this track stands out.
