I don't know what Kesha thought she was doing on this single of hers. It basically reminds me of "Sit Still, Look Pretty" by Daya but somehow more annoying. This makes me very worried about her new album.
Despite not being their best work, "Live at Bush Hall" is good rock album that showcases a turning point stylistically for Black Country, New Road. Something that I felt was missing from this album was that some of the ideas I thought could've been expanded upon more and eventually lead to stronger climactic payoffs. However, it's still an album that is lovely to sit through and doesn't have a track that stands out as weaker than the rest.
After really enjoying Playboi Carti's 2018 album "Die Lit," I was pretty excited to check this album out. However, I found "Whole Lotta Red" to provide a whole lotta material not worth returning to. Even after listening to this album multiple times, I couldn't tell you 95% of what the hooks on this album are. Carti's performances across "Whole Lotta Red" are nowhere near as energetic or catchy as any performance off of "Die Lit." To me, his ... read more
I needed a beautiful song to listen to this really busy week, thank you Black Country, New Road.
Model/Actriz properly blend together starkly different music genres like EDM and noise rock on this new song make it both catchy and distinctively harsh to listen to
Gates To Hell take their death metal sound, that combines elements of slam and deathcore, and they turn it up a few notches on “Death Comes To All.”
The vocal performances on this record are more fierce than their last album. The instrumental performances are extremely tight, specifically with the unexpected tempo changing breakdowns that make this record more dynamic than their last album. It also creates a proper whiplash listening effect that most metal albums try to go for and ... read more
This slam death metal album goes pretty hard with its instrumentals and vocal performances. However, it doesn't do anything really out there with its songwriting that results in some songs sounding like they were too similar to each other, causing each new track to hit less and less.
YUNGBLUD borrows a lot of early pop rock from bands like "Foreigner" on this new single of his. The middle of the song sounds almost exactly like the chorus of "Juke Box Hero." I don't think he had the vocal chops necessary to pull this sound off, and the track didn't need to be stretched out to 9 minutes long.
Both instrumentally and vocally one of Orthodox's strongest songs that also offers something more distinctive to the genre of metalcore
I have never really been a fan of Lil Nas X, but this new song of his has a good beat, as well as a good vocal energy to it to make the hook pop and more catchy
This new single by The Callous Daoboys sounds inspired by 2000s hard rock and emo-pop but with a more laid back approach. I admire that this is one of their more sonically unique tracks, but I feel that they could've done more with this sound they're borrowing from, as well as had a more satisfying pay off with it.
I've never been a fan of Lizzo, but I think she's missed on this single of hers. The instrumental choice, that sounds like something a 2000s alternative rock band would write, I don't think fits with her vocal style.
This song is really annoying. It's not even a creative song as it's copying the formula from songs like We Got The Beat or Hey Mickey but with basic instrumentals and lyrics that are extremely hard to sit through.
Every time the vocalist raps on a goofy trap beat or an overproduced djent section, a child dies
“Sinews” by White Suns is a noise rock album that wants to make the person who listens to it deaf. If you don’t like abrasive music, this isn't for you. If you do like abrasive music, then this album might change that. Featuring thunderous drumming performances, mentally disturbed sounding vocal deliveries, and the most extreme feedback usage I’ve heard on an album made this a more intense listen than most metal albums. It's worth noting that ... read more
Whitechapel managed to create an album that sounds just about as violently unforgiving as their late 2000s work on “Hymns in Dissonance.”
While I think this album still falls into the issue of sounding too repetitive with its breakdowns that nearly every deathcore album falls into. In terms of heaviness and presentation this one stands out. First off, this is one of the best produced deathcore albums I've heard. Done by guitarist Zach Householder, it sounds both natural and ... read more
I decided to check this album out because I despised Sleep Token's latest record "Take Me Back To Eden" album and wanted to see if this would be any better or even a good experience. I will say this album was a little less painful for me to listen to than their album “Take Me Back To Eden.” Since the production wasn’t as overblown and didn’t feature any over-enunciated rap sections from Vessel which is probably the worst thing this band has done. "The ... read more
Spiritbox are a band that I've been trying to like and understand their appeal for a couple of years now. Ever since I heard them for the first time with their 2021 album “Eternal Blue,” I found them to be a very standard alternative metal band that just fits the mold of what people expect on a basic level what alternative metal is. Songs with harsh scream vocals in the verses, singing choruses akin to pop music, metal riffs and breakdowns that often repeat throughout the whole ... read more
