While not as instrumentally interesting as the previous single, it still has some good guitar and drum work involved in it. It also features the "Zao" vocalist, Daniel Weyandt, who fits the track like a glove.
The vocalist of Spiritbox, Courtney LaPlante, actually came out on Twitter saying that the band didn't approve of releasing this single and didn't even know it was releasing until the night before. So out of respect, I'm not gonna rate this track until the album comes out.
In terms of the quality of this track, I'm glad it's not another stereotypical and predictable alternative metal track that this band usually writes. However, this might be the worst song I've ... read more
Black Country, New Road release another great single that sounds like something from "Live at Bush Hall" but more developed into something bigger and new
bbno$ releases another hip house song that, while entertaining, could've gone further in terms of catchiness and memorability
This new Architects album... is NOT GOOD.
This will likely be the last time I review any new Architects material. Mainly due to this album being their third chance to make an alternative metal album that wasn't complete garbage. As the saying goes “one is by chance, twice is a coincidence, and three times is a pattern.” Unless all of the stars in the Milky Way align, Architects are NEVER going to write a good alternative metal album. You also have the fact that this band ... read more
This is single release feels like the band had this conversation with themselves, "Oh crap our new single released right before our album isn't being very well received. Let's release one of the heavier songs we have on our new album so our fans forget about that previous song." However, this new single still has a really bad chorus and is just as overproduced as all the other singles for the new album.
Dying Wish release another metalcore song with well performed and well crafted clean vocals. The riffs and breakdowns also sound great.
This new single sounds inspired by Model/Actriz's groovier tracks off of their album "Dogsbody" and they make it more danceable while still being tightly written with multiple layers of instrumentation
"Old" by Danny Brown is an entertaining album ruined by an inconsistent tone.
The first half of the album is pretty serious and has introspective lyrics about Danny's life where he clearly resents it. Like with the song "Clean Up" where he goes into how drug usage leads to him letting his family down. However, most of the songs in the second half of the album are straight up party anthems about drugs and/or sex. It could've been ok if the album had these tracks ... read more
Deafheaven expand their blackgaze roots on this new single and it's very beautiful
I'm not really enamored with this song's progression as it feels too repetitive. Although, it does have a good and climactic ending.
This sounds like cheesy 2000s radio rock but more bland and forgettable
Going into "Malignant Worthlessness," I was a little worried the vocals would prevent me from enjoying it. Specifically the fact that they remind me of the vocals on "Last Days Of Humanity" where you can't make a single word, let alone a syllable, out of what they're saying. But they actually add a lot to the album's muddied and filthy sound without going too far with it. I can see some people not liking how clean the production can be on this album. But for ... read more
While not as hard hitting or diverse as their previous EPs, SPY manage to create a hardcore punk project that is memorably abrasive and full of energy with "Seen Enough"
McKinley Dixon is back with another beautiful jazz rap single with great features from Quelle Chris and Anjimile
Maruja created another epic rock EP with jazz, punk, and post-hardcore influences with “Connla’s Well.” I found this project to be very diverse with its sound, mix its genres very boldly, and was a more cohesive experience than their last good EP “Knocknarea.” The songwriting and performances were also tight and seemed to be hitting off on a lot of cylinders. I would like to see what the band will bring on a future project.
