Even though it's a short track, it's enjoyable as well as more abrasive than most hardcore punk
These singles are so bad that you forget what day it is
I was hoping I was gonna like these two singles, since I would like to see the band bounce back from their pretty meh 2023 EP "God Smiles Upon The Callous Daoboys." However, I can't help but feel that these new songs are a major step down from their "Celebrity Therapist" days.
"Two-Headed Trout" sounds like a hideous combination between "Dance Gavin Dance" and "Panic! At The Disco." "The Demon of Unreality Limping Like A Dog" is ... read more
On "Dawn FM" The Weeknd takes his sound from "After Hours" and develops it further.
Songs involve more detailed production that give each of the tracks a more distinct, sometimes futuristic sound. The choruses across the album are constructed well, like with the chorus of “Out of Time" which is a ballad track that involves Abel describing a situation where his chance with an ex he wants to be with again is gone. You also have "Less Than Zero" that, ... read more
I was somewhat excited to check out this Church Tongue EP since its lead guitarist, Nicko Calderon, is the current rhythm guitarist for "Knocked Loose." You also have Mike Sugars as the lead vocalist, who has done the vocals for “Vatican” and “PSYCHO FRAME.” So it was reasonable that my expectations were somewhat high since I think the band is made up of very competent musicians.
For the most basic level of judgement, I think they did a good job. But I ... read more
Reminds me of the album Stigma by Wage War, just some very overproduced, cheesy, and generic alternative metal
This song by Your Spirit Dies is influenced by 2000s metalcore and I think they do a good job at defining their own sound through inspiration. The performances from each member are stand out by being intense and unpredictable for the genre.
WONDERWaLL: covers like this are the reason why there hasn't been a Punk Goes Pop album since 2017
YOUtopia - EarthcOre remix: somehow more badly produced and goofy than the original, it sounds like a bad mall shopping song
This Vulgarity album features really hard hitting riffs and breakdowns that are produced very well. Other than the vocals being hidden too much in the mix, I think this is one of the stronger metalcore albums of 2024. I hope their next work has more tight and diverse songwriting and even stronger breakdowns.
Fit For An Autopsy are a band that while I haven't hated, I've never been hugely impressed by to the point where I am compelled to relisten to them. This album uses a lot of clean vocals, which I'm not the biggest fan of in deathcore. Mainly because the people performing them in bands most of the time can't sing. I'm sorry for saying that, but it's genuinely horrid 90% of the time.
The clean vocals on this album performance-wise aren't bad and can even sound ... read more
Papa Roach on this new single show that they're still making butt rock from the 2000s that became out of style shortly after
A djent album that is actually intense, creative, and memorable instead of bland, stagnant, and forgettable that has become the norm for its genre
A metalcore album that while isn't bad, doesn't offer anything new to the genre, and doesn't feature distinct hooks or inspiring performances. If you love early Code Orange or Dying Wish, you might like it more than me.
I feel like this song would've never been so popular if it didn't have both Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga on it. While they do give some good vocal performances, the song itself is lacking in memorability and plays it extremely safe to the point where it feels bland.
Why is the production on this track more overblown than Spiritbox's other singles for their new album? Every drum hit and guitar strum feels the exact same. Courtney's spoken word sections sound disconnected from the rest of the track and add lyrically nothing to the song.
In my opinion, this is her best single released for her upcoming 8th LP "MAYHEM." It sounds inspired by something off of "The Fame Monster," and I think Gaga does a good job with creating something similar but also definable from that project.
On "After Hours" Abel Tesfaye, aka The Weeknd, is mixing synthpop and alternative R&B admirably well a majority of time.
Although I have to say I enjoyed a lot of moments on this album, but I wasn't completely in love with it. I think the first half of this album particularly is too similar instrumentally track to track, and it also suffers from not being that indifferent from other synthpop projects and artists. I also think Abel having less laid back vocal performances on ... read more
