The production on this single is a little overblown in some spots, especially when you compare it to a track off of their album "Bleed Yourself," but it's instrumentally a solid metalcore track.
I was never the biggest fan of Every Time I Die's or The Dillinger Escape Plan's more melodic and easier to listen to tracks, so it's not surprising that I'm not the biggest fan of this single. I found the bridge of the track to be pretty basic, and the song overall to just be passable.
Fallen God release their debut project and it goes harder than 90% of debut metalcore projects. I like the way they keep switching up breakdowns in order to make the songs less repetitive and more exciting. It's also produced well to the point where it hits hard and still sounds natural. Maybe some moments of the EP could've been more unique, but I think it does enough to where it's a somewhat distinct take on the genre.
This EP features pretty stereotypical heavily produced alternative metal with repetitive djent chugging and predictable song progressions. Likely won't enjoy it if you don't care for the genre.
I can imagine that if I listened to this album five years ago, I would've laughed at it and thought it was made as a joke. Fast forward to now, when I actually listened to this project, I actually understand the genre of bubblegum dance as it isn't trying to be deep and is just trying its best to get stuck in your head with solid production and playful hooks.

Well, at least Mike is rapping again even though the lyrics aren't good and are too cryptic. The song overall reminds of that meme that makes fun of radio rock stations that's like, "we play the most pure uncut rock music on the face of the earth, up next is Imagine Dragons and Twenty One Pilots."
This album has an insane raw sound that is very powerful and standout from a lot of other bands in the same lane. Something that I wish "Salt Sermon" was stronger in is memorable hooks or rhythms throughout. Still a good album that shows potential for growth. Excited to hopefully hear another project from Missouri Executive Order 44 in the future.
I blame radio rock and safe mainstream metal bands for inspiring bands to create terrible and generic alternative metal albums that combine pop and metal very badly like this one. The songs on "Elements" sound the same due to their near exact song progressions and structures. The lyrics are the extremely broad and cliché which music subreddits online make fun of all the time. It has annoying clean vocals and forgettable unclean vocals that don't stand out from other metal ... read more
This album is basically Katy Perry's anti "Witness" album. Everything that her "Witness" album stood for and was trying to do creatively is the opposite for "143."
It's Katy Perry trying to modernize her early mindless funtime pop glory days and failing miserably. Katy was so desperate to recreate her early 2010s number one hit magic that she got back Dr. Luke to work for her, who has been accused of sexual abuse, in order to do so. She will even show ... read more
"Witness" is Katy Perry's attempt at a somewhat progressive style of pop music. You can definitely feel she is looking at human concerns and trying to make an album that is more deep and thought provoking compared to her previous bubblegum pop work.
You have songs on here that are about life and issues related to life. You also have some songs that are about identity and individualism. Some songs work very well. The album opener "Witness" is a good way to open the ... read more
Seeing the love that this album has gotten especially since technical death metal is rarely loved on this site, I was hoping that I would love it as well. To be honest, I'm not really enamored with the songwriting on "Cutting the Throat of God." Yes it is very technical and the band clearly worked hard on it, but it kinda all blends together as there isn't any huge shifts or dynamic changes to make it memorable. It's either a little easy to follow along to, or only a ... read more
This track has straight up speed metal elements in it. Ripped to Shreds could release the most intense death metal album of 2024.
Whitechapel have managed to make a track that sounds similar to their old material. It's impressive how this deathcore track isn't generic, overperformed, or overproduced. It's worth a listen even if you don't like the genre.
Poppy's new single is akin to what I don't care for when I listen to alternative metal. What happened to the mathcore elements from her "EAT" project?
One of the most lyrically disturbing sludge metal bands released a new album this year. The songwriting on "You Could Do It Tonight" seems to be a little more ambitious as it features more dynamic riffs and vocals compared to other Couch Slut albums that I've heard. Although, I think it could've been paced better as the weaker moments of the album come across more frequently through repeated listens. Some of the riffs on a couple tracks I also found to be too mellow and ... read more
Redux review: I definitely shouldn't have reviewed this album when I didn't understand the genre it was a part of. Which honestly should be advice for a lot of people on this site that I see give negative reviews to metal albums because they were upset that an album was loud and chaotic.
This album manages to feature a manifold of noise and atmosphere to it that makes the whole album a memorable listen. Not to mention some complex and twisted lyrics that are delivered manically also ... read more
I was never a big $uicideboy$ fan and this album didn't really change that for me. A lot of the songs on here I found to be too repetitive of one another. I didn't really care for some of the rap delivery across the album either. The production and beats on a lot of these tracks are good though.
