James Blake - The Colour in Anything

James Blake is an undeniably great artist, but here he tries to do too much with too little. The result is a good album with quite a few great tracks along with a frustrating amount of what feels like filler. It has some of Blake's best hooks and most beautiful palettes, but also some of his most questionable production choices. Still though, despite its unnecessary runtime, The Colour of Everything is as pretty a record as you'd expect from James Blake, and although it doesn't break much new ground for him, it's certainly worthwhile if you like his other stuff and have an hour to kill.

It's a step down imo, but still damn good

I'd argue some of the tracks on here are better than most of overgrown, but other than that it's a good but unexceptional album
