In a time period where i feel like im at my lowest, in a year where ive decided to embrace the so called "cringe" more than ever and Focus on amvcore and in a lifetime of evanescence being my all time favorite band
The sanctuary is born.
Im gonna hit you with the hottest take right from the bat: this album is better than fallen. Yeah i said it.
Fallen is iconic, we all know that but it did actually come with some flaws that mainly have been forced upon by the label, like the Paul ... read more
Oh the bitter truth, you and the flaws you are could never replace your perfect imperfection.
Now Amy Lees way of releasing albums has always been to "go with the flow" - the albums come when they come. Now in between those 2 albums we got synthesis which included symphonic electronica Remakes of old songs plus 2 original songs that stay in this exact same style. Imperfection felt like a return single, it was an euphoric song that felt like amy started where she left off, even if ... read more
Somehow EVERYONE is releasing shit this year
My goats are in fact not washed, this is blood loss level industrial influences and its pretty bouncey, i can see this played in morecore parties
Also dont sleep on Jack, his vocal cadences are so ungodly unique my god
Arguably one of the prettiest futurepop songs of all time, its combining the best parts of icon of coil with ronan harris at his best
This is in a strict rivalry with ember from BB as "hype moments and aura: the album"
Now this is that AMVcore shit im talking about. I think One-X is THE album that is filled with amazing moments, the instrumentals while still being simple being actually coherent and Adam gontier is just absolutely at his a-game. You could argue hes one of the most important voices of the 2000s AMVcore era, he has this rasp to his voice that gives it just that emotional edge and if you add that with ... read more
Now since I have found my way back to AMVcore and been spreading the word so far this year about its existence, we cant forget about one of the biggest acts in that genre I made up and thats Three Days Grace.
Now this band always essentially stood next to breaking benjamin as a band that did a similar Post-Grunge affiliated Alt Metal style however they cracked a formula that leaned more into popularity and less in quality. But it gotta start somewhere and well here we have it.
Now if we ... read more
A whole nine years after celldweller created one of the most incredible electronica metal hybrids (and a few things in between) Klayton releases Wish upon a blackstar and while i could essentially still glaze klayton for the entire review at how he essentially created one of the most "out of space" records ive ever heard with really fun dnb metal and a true birth to the future metal formula with some of his best songs like the best its gonna get, so long sentiment, eon and birthright, ... read more
im so sorry plot in you that you have to compete with a wholeass evanescence release cause in any other non evanescence year this could easily be song of the year oh my god landon the producer that you are
No rating cause you wont catch me having good words for a guy who is ronnies bestie but omg its so funny how sots used the aoty rating as a headline
And the one to conclude it all!
Im gonna be honest, this one just feels like riding that exact same wave so it leads me with nothing much to say. The Features are slightly Experimental and end up being hit or miss and the solo stuff is your Standard lotl affair. Opener is great and there are some decent songs on the second half but yea this one ends up the worst by default almost.
Its a damn shame because the first volume showed such promise but overall this is still definetly a good album ... read more
Nah fuck it this is better than afraid of the dark, it reminds me of my favorite song by them thoughts and prayers and its a clear blegh of the year in that goddamn sexy ass breakdown
everytime i have to hear that awful "around the world" from mgk, my will to live fades a little more

While it is true that i tend to go for a lot of alt metal right now and one of those has post-Grunge ties (spoiler altert, they arent the only ones, i still have some reviews that jus finally need to be pushed out) to me what did it more was in fact the alt metal than the post-grunge or as i like to call it AMVcore.
Saturate was pretty much only the worst breaking benjamin album BECAUSE of those post-grunge elements, maybe you can blame creed as the specific vocal ... read more
After all that transpired through the open door cycle you could tell Amy lee gave it her all. Their live shows were unlike anything previously and she pushed herself to her absolutely maximum because the band damn well didnt feel like it (except terry). John lecompt and rocky grey were very obviously siding with ben Moody in this conflict and especially John concluded this with a financial dispute sealing his departure and the remaining members creating we are the fallen with ben. Thus Amy Lee ... read more
I lowkey swore i would not have any album be a 10 rating other than origin and celldweller self titled but honestly, the open door should have this honor as well. Lets talk about it!
Fallen was such an overnight success that it caught the band completly off-guard. You can tell they were absolutely not prepared for the big stage and that their music was for the passion first, at least that was for the most important part of the band, Amy lee. Now this is where our first and arguably most ... read more
Real evheads know that the Jordan fish type of production that favors not only pop centric elements but also uses industrial foundations in the electronics is EXACTLY what matches with evanescence. A lot of people were obviously skeptical but i knew since end of you and how well amy lee worked on it there was never anything to worry about. I think afterlife is an overall better song thus far because the structure of this song keeps itself more simple but regardless we are absolutely back. And ... read more
And here we have the new front(?)runner for the worst red album!
Look, i dont know if i mentioned this in any other review but 2017 was such an odd and honestly bland year for alternative/heavy music. You think the metal goes pop shtick is bad now? Oh fucking boy you wouldnt last a day in 2017. Both evanescence and linkin park abandoned rock entirely, any other heavy hitter you could think of is either experimenting with pop sounds or just not showing up and having these weird and dated ... read more
Ok how are we in these type of rating ranges again?
This is a true return to form, that doesnt waste your time like the previous sometimes did and actually fullfills the essentials of aggrotech. Seriously this thing has potential to be the best aggrotech albun of the year, i genuinely dont get the ratings here. At worst it still takes a bit too long here and there but this time around i feel like my time is being used properly making this a very rewarding listen.
