Guardian Alien - Spiritual Emergency
Sep 20, 2015
53
On their second full lenght LP, Guardian Alien cover more ground with a different album structure. In Spiritual Emergency, the group shows five distinct tracks that include their usual experimentation ranging from hypnotic tribal beats complimented by weird sounds and electronic snippets on opener Tranquilizer to sampling-full short songs like Mirror and Vapour. Not much done really well, though. The only standout moment is, fortunately the lenghtiest track on the album, Spiritual Emergency, reaching the 20 min mark with a full improvisational psychedelic rock/avant-garde performance that resembles their past work, but surprises by its energy and thicker sounds and textures. Overall, another mild piece from the band, but also a slightly improvement from their debut.
