Summer Walker is a very talented musician that I think is caught in modern R&B trappings.

Future Nostalgia takes basic pop troupes, refines them with good — but not spectacular — funk and synth production, fused with Dua Lipa's good — but also not spectacular vocals, to deliver a fun and refreshing album that is a standout among other mainstream pop acts. It's brevity and lack of lyrical scope, depth, and noteworthy vocal performances, prevent it from truly shining.
