Jack Harlow - Jackman.
55

I am incredibly surprised to say that Jack Harlow put out a very competent record. There are a few really good and surprisingly somewhat conscious songs on here, like Common Ground and Gang Gang Gang, and only a few songs that were misses. The closing track was unfortunately very week, but overall, I was very happy with this album, which is extra surprising considering how biased against it I was going in.

71 -> 55, gave this way too much credit on an initial listen. It's passable at best.

Fall Out Boy - American Beauty / American Psycho
54

When I was real young, (12 or 13, so not actually that young lol) this was my absolute favorite album. Not just my favorite fall out boy album, my favorite album overall. I had also only heard maybe half of the album total, but that was probably more than almost any other album I had heard at that time, so it still definitely counts. I thought this sounded cutting edge, exciting, and super energizing. Uma Thurman was probably my favorite song, and everything else I had heard was also great. I ... read more

Frank Ocean - Blonde
91

This album is more important to me than almost any other album I have ever heard. I no longer hold it in the same reverence I used to, but I still love this album and think it sounds like very little else that I have ever heard.

I can't remember exactly why, but there was a day a few years ago that I was really stressed. I had something I needed to go do later, don't remember what exactly. I had wanted to listen to something chill to try and calm myself down a bit. I usually just listened to ... read more

Periphery - Periphery III: Select Difficulty
92

Even though I think this is a more middle of the road periphery album, they're still my favorite band and I absolutely love it. Periphery 3 is the band's poppiest record, and while I do love how heavy Periphery 2 is, I prefer the more melodic aspects of the band, and this is the 1st album of theirs that I think really doubled down on that sound. The album starts with the 2 heaviest songs on the album, and while I don't think they're bad I think that they are the weakest part of the album and ... read more

SORRY SORRY BUT I GOTTA TAKE YOUR LIFE

These people are seemingly some of the most unlikable rappers I have ever heard, but I don't care oh my god this album is so funny. Head is one of the funniest rap songs I have ever heard, and top don dada is so incompetent and corny that I absolutely can't help laughing most of the way through. There is no point listening to this album after track 4 or 5, but the stretch from head to top don dada and maybe Kaliya is the hardest I've laughed listening to ... read more

Melanie Martinez - PORTALS
20

Bad music from an even worse person. Most songs are just so boring I forgot I was listening to music, a few (the contortionist, moon cycle, nymphology,) are so terrible I couldn't finish them, and light shower wasn't actually too bad. What a shit album.

Periphery - Periphery V: Djent is Not a Genre
89

Another great offering from periphery, though I probably overhyped it a bit in my head because of the long wait between albums. This album has some of periphery's absolute best songs, such as Wildfire, everything is fine, and Dracul Gras (glad they actually used the fat dracula idea lmao). It also has probably their worst song in silhouette, I like pop music a good bit, and I loved its only smiles on the last album, but i think this song just absolutely does not fit on the album and also just ... read more

Carlos Toshiki & Omega Tribe - Navigator
94

I was on a vacation in Florida a few years back, can't remember exactly when. I wanted to make a playlist to fit the vibe (as we would be spending a lot of time on the beach) and wanted to find some somewhat tropical or at least just happy sounding soft rock and pop music. I had also recently started getting into city pop through Mariya Takeuchi. I started the playlist with stuff like seventeen by Peach Pit and Billionaire by Bruno Mars, but wanted to look into city pop to see if I could find ... read more

Periphery - Clear
81

Probably periphery's most underrated project, even people I have talked to that love periphery don't seem to know this exists. Nothing groundbreaking, but a really fun experimental EP that I think all periphery fans should check out, especially since Feed the Ground and Pale Aura are 2 of their best songs.

Fall Out Boy - M A N I A
21

Relistening to this album really made me realize I had 0 ability to think critically when I was younger lmao. Fall out boy, as well as panic and MCR, were the first bands I "discovered" as a kid after just listening to the radio for most of my life, and this was probably the 1st album I was ever around for the release for. I absolutely loved this album, even though it was still my least favorite of theirs. I continued to listen to it for a year or so, and my opinion dropped a bit over ... read more

Sad Brad - THERE ARE NO RULES

I am a broken man after hearing this and I only made it to song 4. How is literally every aspect of this as bad as it is. Why does song 4 just reuse the previous instrumental? I hope to god no album worse than this comes out this year cause I can't imagine anything being worse.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

This is, in my opinion, the greatest album of all time. It's not my favorite album ever, not even my favorite Kendrick album, but I don't think there will ever be an album as well-crafted, sonically beautiful, and politically poignant as this one. There is 1 mediocre song (you ain't gotta lie), 6 very great songs, and 9 genuine 10/10 songs. I understand not being able to get into the sound, but anyone with an interest in rap or jazz absolutely needs to listen to this album.

Corey Feldman - Angelic 2 the Core
4

I love this album so much. I'm so impressed with how terrible literally every song on the album is. This isn't even fun to listen through, but when I finished it I just couldn't do anything but laugh. How the fuck did Corey get snoop and fred durst on this lmao.

Death Grips - Exmilitary
97

This is so fucking aggressive in absolutely the best way, I just get a real sense of catharsis every time I listen to this and can just let go. God damn this is good.

TOOL - Lateralus
96

The problem is, Tool defines "opus" as taking their "defining element" (wanking sludge) and stretching it out to the maximum digital capacity of a compact disc.

Fuck you pitchfork this album is cool as hell. I don't really care about all of the math that's in these songs, this shit just sounds really good. I generally love prog metal, but this album very well might stand above even the other greats of the genre.

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach
89

As a environmentalist and an environmental science major, this album feels like it was made for me. Absolutely my favorite Gorillaz project (even though demon days is close), it's also my favorite electropop album. Would be above a 90 if Superfast Jellyfish wasn't an annoying gimmick song that loses any enjoyability after the 1st listen.

Periphery - Periphery IV: HAIL STAN
95

This album absolutely changed my taste in metal when I first listened to it in 2020. I had primarily only listened to some more thrash stuff, namely Meshuggah, but this album (and the rest of their discography as a whole) got me really into the djenty and melodic side of metal. While not their most ambitious album, it does have some of their best offerings, namely in the 1st and last tracks, Satellites being one of my favorite songs of all time. Crush is probably one of their worst songs though.

96

An absolute classic for a reason, this is a fucking banger. Took me like 3 listens to fully get into the sound of the album despite already liking Exmilitary, but once it clicked it absolutely clicked for me. I don't really want to look at the album cover pretty much ever though.

Fall Out Boy - So Much (For) Stardust
52

I think I've probably heard every song here on the radio at least 5 times, and I haven't listened to the radio in years. This album really feels like it brings nothing new to the table, which is so much better than their previous attempt at an album.

Iced Earth - A Narrative Soundscape
0

Genuinely impressive that an album this bad can be made. I have probably never heard anything this bad in my life. Everything from the lyrics to the terrible mixing to the generic power metal instrumentation makes this the most grueling album I've ever had the misfortune of listening to. Why the hell did I sit through the whole thing. Please, do not listen to this.
