I am a bit biased towards R&B, so I may praise this album a little too much.
Pulp is a very pleasant R&B project which carries some nice mixes and vocals from Ambré. The length is reasonable, being only around 45 minutes long(I’m referring to Director’s Cut but I prefer this cover more)
The production doesn’t stand out as much as 3000° and Wanderlust, but it still has plenty of really nice stand out tracks on here, those being fubu, band practice, plenty, lost, and american beauty. The washed reverb heavy guitars, synth leads, keys and bass sit very nicely on these songs.
The features are very good and they do their thing as needed. G Easy was actually good on here, which surprised me. Jean Deaux is automatically the best feature, her verse was done like rent was due. I did hate BEAM on slip, his verse was ok at best. I like that they don’t overpower Ambré and still give her the space needed to carry her own album.
The lyrics are filled with a lot of references and word play despite how chill everything is. She knows how to talk about something in different forms, including the many rhymes used.
Pulp is a pretty good label debut, and I’m excited for her next album(if she stops procrastinating and FINALLY drops it).
