it just makes me so happy that a contemporary #1 pop song is using more organic and live instrumentation with some teenage angst and authenticity. I imagine that a lot of people growing up today haven’t heard much of that, if any at all. I know that if I had been exposed only to the top 40 charts we usually have today my musical perspective would be completely different.
I’ve been listening to Dinosaur Jr. on repeat over the last few days. Something about their lo-fi production and sound coupled with hard rock guitar solos is very interesting to me. There’s not another band I can think of that does indie or alternative rock quite like them, and I’m here for it.
Very good, cohesive and catchy. A nice amalgamation of sounds produced from various instruments produced quite crisply and cleanly. Vocals are also clean and pleasant. Overall really great example of 80’s synth pop/new wave.
near perfection. incredible songwriting and musical performances by every member of the band. Ian’s removed, often third person, yet clearly related to his own life lyricism is breathtaking and poignant enough that you can feel what he was going through at the time of recording. overall, this record is a true keystone in music.
edit: this album has one of the best replay values ever. it grows every time, instrumentally and lyrically. also it’s become a dear personal favorite and ... read more
“Lost In The Supermarket” is one of my favorite songs of all time. Add to that some other gems, and a solid overall feel and consistency in terms of instrumentation and vocals, and you have a great album. However, it does drag at times, and this 19 track, 65 minute album is far from perfect. Though It’s significance to music overall cannot be understated, this album will always be held back by some of it’s more repetitive and generic tracks and what they take away from ... read more
there’s legitimately nothing i would change about this album. it’s perfect. not all the songs are earth shattering by themselves, but in album form they’re so cohesive and flow so nicely that at times it just feels like one 37 minute long track.
NO. stop it. stop becoming another boring bedroom folk pop artist. billie is capable of so much more than this, I have no idea why this is the lead single to her new album.
it’s not anything outlandish musically, just really well produced and catchy. the reason it’s blown up so much is the music video, which honestly, is really creative and should be able to be expressed by lil nas x however he wants. creative expression should not be censored.
i’m the thousandth review for this album and i haven’t listened to it all the way through
i do not like this song. brent underperforms lyrically and vocally, and the tyler feature is like 8 seconds long
a beautiful collections of songs, a near perfect live album, sans that baby. jeff sounds just as good if not better compared to his studio work with NMH. his singing style and stripped down versions of the songs he’s playing here really lend themselves well to being played live.
this album is just so easy to listen to. nick’s voice is so soothing and the more traditional instrumentation is really pleasant. west country girl is one of my favorite songs ever.
who makes this dude’s album covers, for real? this one looks like a nickelback album from 2007
