radiohead's sophomore effort is one that will be forever a landmark in the alternative rock scene. not only does it comtinue the standard rock sound that was on their debut, but it carries into the art-rock style of performing that became the dominant force of later work like kid a and ok computer. there are obvious folk rock influences as well (high and dry) which expand the audience to the largest possible. yorke's singing was as beautiful as ever; he flowed with the melodies with such effortlessness that there were times where i forgot to listen to what he was saying through being captivated by the music.
to be brief: radiohead's second album is all you could want from alt-rock. aside from a few moments that were kind of corny and generic, this record is one for the ages.
