Ethereal, beautifully composed, emotionally transcendent pop music that fills me with nostalgia and wonder.
This man is the worst artist alive. I do not believe humans enjoy this.
KEEP A HORN ON ME THAT KAMASI
First impression after three listens:
This is exactly what hip hop needed to close off the year and this is exactly what Kendrick needed to release after the Drake beef to really seal the deal and let us see him in his full “battle rap” Kendrick form.
It’s low key, it’s “not like us” Kendrick, it’s emotional and conceptual, it’s dark, it’s fun, it’s all over the place, there’s 10 out of 10 amazing ... read more
This was one of the most diverse, entertaining and surprising pieces of music I’ve heard all year.
Doechii is definitely the best new rapper or 2024, and this album shows exactly why that is. There is so much diversity on this tape from boom bap to fireflies, but it’s all quality.
I love her vocal inflections and personality. My only real criticism here is there is only a few songs here that appealed enough to me personally to revisit, and there is a very unserious feel to this ... read more
I loved the personal writing and story telling, and the beats were extremely memorable. There were a few Kanye interpolations that pulled on some nostalgia for me and the two Wayne verses were sick.
This was a solid album. I get the cordae hype now
This sounds like they went through their discography and tried to remake their hits for a whole album, all of which is subpar to anything Chester was involved in.
The singles lied to us, I like all of the singles a lot. The rest of the album was just really not up to par. Lot of boring radio fodder here.
A few duds here and there, but a lot of the songs were classic soul. Nothing really blew me away but nothing was really bad either.
Beats are great, love gunn’s voice and lyrics, love his attitude, but the songs aren’t really blowing me away.
Also do did dj drama need to be here?
It’s cool! Definitely not bad. It would be a 7 if drama was here less
It’s like a fountain of teenage angst with lots of talent and potential and moments of absolute brilliance (Yonkers, she)
I still know almost every word. This was my Bible when I was 12
Some of the happiest warmest hip hop songs of this decade. There’s a lot of songs on here I don’t like, but the highs are definitely high and I love the vibe and feeling this album brings. Another great installment in Tyler’s discography
This is by far Tyler’s most personal album he’s ever released, he said the topics he discussed on here were so difficult it could I’ll be done through a mask (hence the cover), and when you listen to these lyrics that really makes sense.
From monogamy, to growing old, to wrestling with the thought of having kids, the topics explored on here are constantly interesting and explored so well. The track placing is done perfectly, sticking these songs with heavier topics right in ... read more
Best written album of the year. This moved me in ways I wasn’t expecting.
There’s some magic about this album that only select artists are able to really tap into, it reminded me heavily of songs by Adrienne Lenker at times.
With themes of motherhood, child-like wonder, aging, reminiscing, being human, nature and so much more… this is really something special. I don’t know how else to put it.
I was instantly hooked when the first song gave me chills that had tears ... read more
