Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk

EDIT 97->100
I wrote this whole review before this album really grew on me and became perfect, a place where words can’t reach. It’s magical, it’s a classic, it’s everything I love about music and more.

I could say so much about this album. I’ve listened to it dozens of times already.
It’s just truly, deeply beautiful pop music that experiments and pushes boundaries in the right places.

The production is top notch and full of ear worm melodies and ... read more

Tech N9ne - Something Else

So corny
With a few really good songs

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter IV
78

Prime Wayne. Why does this get so much hate? This doesn’t have the highs of Carter 3 but it doesn’t have the lows either.
Lots of classics on this stacked tracklist. He is in rare form here.

Mac Miller - Watching Movies with the Sound Off
74

A really dark and psychedelic album from Mac that marks his steep change in his artistry better than any project in his discography. The day this album dropped was one of the best days of my life as a 13 year old, I played this and yeezus back to back All day in my room and it was like a musical awakening for me, so I have a lot of nostalgia for these songs.
I really like the pitch shifting, the dreary production, the repetition and the lyrics that range from very philosophical to downright ... read more

Big Sean - Better Me Than You

Boring but not bad

Fontaines D.C. - Romance
74

An amazing follow-up to their last record. This album has very high highs envelop Lowe’s are more of slow, meandering, beautiful, sounding interludes rather than actual bad songs. I definitely think that this record shines in the more punchy and upbeat, sounding tracks like starburst, but my personal favorite Fontaines DC song of all time in the modern world

Nails - Every Bridge Burning
67

The highlight on this album for me were the lyrics, which should never be the case on a Nails album.
This album feels very safe to me at times, I wish they went further with some of the nastier riffs and pounding drums.

It just never really blew my mind or had an effect on me like their other albums have.

Drake - Scorpion

Filler: The Album

(Nice for What, mob ties, nonstop, in my feelings and gods plan are pretty good)

Post Malone - F-1 Trillion
47

This sounds like the worst part of growing up in south Texas
Generic pop country with post Malone’s voice which I have never found appealing.

Some of the features are okay and there’s a few really strong moments, but overall I do not like this project whatsoever

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - Flight b741
67

Really well executed and was a pretty fun listen overall, but this sound and style is just not for me. I just don’t really like this genre I guess, but it’s about as well made as it could’ve been and I have no real complaints.
Probably won’t revisit it much but a very cool addition to their growing discography.

I’m a huge KGATLW fan and I’ve learned with time that I definitely like some of their styles and sounds more than others, this one just ... read more

¥$ - VULTURES 2 DIGITAL DELUXE

Rating just the new songs, if I include the songs with the original album it takes this from a 43 to a 48.
SONG RATINGS:
Believer: 45
CAN U BE - 88
TOYD - 77

Believer sounded like a shitty demo with mumble ye but had a cool ty dollar sign chorus and a grand beat. Drunk is in my bottom three Kanye songs of all time. He’s not even on it, but that’s not why it sucks.
It’s just horrible. Peso sucks, Kodak sucks, the chorus isn’t catchy, the beat is annoying and Ty ... read more

¥$ - VULTURES 2

This fucking BLOWS. Lazy lazy lazy. AI verses? Are you joking? The mumbling?
It’s clear Kanye isn’t even trying, his soul isn’t in his music anymore. I wish he would retire with the bit of grace he still has, or at least wait until he’s inspired again.

This album is a huge mixed bag with like 2-3 highlights that I enjoyed on the first half, then songs that are absolutely trash rough drafts, mixed in with a bunch of filler that is just okay.

Really solid comeback single from Kanye and Ty. Kanye had a spacious and passionate performance while Ty sounded smooth and sexy

Both parts were catchy, the production was immaculate. We are so back!!

Yung Gravy - Serving Country

This is fucking horrible. Not a single positive thing to say. This is an insult to music

What the fuck?

JPEGMAFIA - I LAY DOWN MY LIFE FOR YOU
91

Holy shit. This was fucking insane.
Peggy is in his prime. This is hands down his best album imo, that guitar fucking shreds.

I’m playing final fantasy 7 rebirth rn and don’t put anything in the Bible sounds like it’s straight out of the soundtrack. Fire.

Joeyy - Try

I really really like a lot of the sounds on here. I really think this project shows great potential.
The grunge-cloud rap droney sound really works on a lot of these tracks. Then other tracks kind of bore me.

The production was good, his voice sounds angelic as always and I think this is a really good showing of his talent. I just think the songs need … something? Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Ice Spice - Y2K!
51

The backend is much better than the front. I still think she has potential, this is just not it.
Some of the songs really really really suck. Most of them actually.
But, I will point out that I thought the outro was a cool rapping performance. She sounded feisty.
I genuinely enjoy think you the shit a lot, and did it first is a solid single that has a cool hook and beat. The rest of this ranges from meh to awful.

"@Shayden I am a huge beach boys fan. So I’m kind of confused as to why I feel this way. It almost feels like they’re covering beach boys songs I haven’t heard before, and something about it just doesn’t maintain my interest They do have some great songs and singles though, but for a whole album I wish they had more of their own identity. Merriweather Post Pavilion is a great example of an album that takes heavy Brian Wilson influence in the best way possible but really has its own identity and creates very unique art from it. This just leaves me feeling uninterested"

"@MatveyRyazanov sounds like you, along with a lot of his fans, have your mind made up. They found book(s) with naked little boys in his room. This is confirmed. He was a grown man who had a roster of little boys that would sleep in his bed with him. There is no world where this is appropriate, He had a bell security system above the bed that he would lay with the little boys in that would go off if someone was coming up to the room. There is testimony from more than just one kid. There was a little boy who was able to identify an allopecia mark on his penis. Also confirmed, but not used at the time of the trial. Those involved with the trial believed that if this penis evidence was used in court the jury may have had a harder time."

I was in the exact same boat as you when I found him a few years ago, I was just telling my fiance that he has 3-5 songs in his discography that are pure magic and some of the best songs anyone has ever made in country. Pink skies is probably my favorite from him"

"@FalconGM on second listen today I’m not enjoying this nearly as much as I did last night tbh so this isn’t a hill I’m going to die on 😂😂 But I still like it around the same if not more than American dream. American dream has higher highs but the love songs / sentimental songs put me to sleep. And this album is easier to just put it on and drive bc it stays kinda menacing the whole way through until the last song"

Enough to come and make a review about it and drag the whole album over one word 😂 People like you are why people want to use that word again, policing people’s speech like this will only make them want to say it more. And who knows? Maybe scrim is mentally slow and has some diagnosis so he can say it as a slur he’s recaptured. lol. Who are you to say ? Seriously"
