Quadeca - SCRAPYARD

78-> 80 (UPDATE WRITTEN AFTER THIS REVIEW:)
Over time, I’m becoming hooked and obsessed with each individual song and am coming back to this and connecting to these songs way more than I was when I wrote this review. This album’s appeal was a bit of a slow burner for me, but songs like what’s it to him, guess who, way too many friends and under my skin are PERFECT songs and are very emotionally moving. This tape has top tier songs mixed in with songs that obviously require ... read more

The production on this is amazing. A lot of really cool moments, but it’s far too long and the songs start to feel really repetitive after awhile.

His best project as a whole imo. The static/futuristic feel on here is really unique and fun.

J. Cole - Born Sinner
74

The album that really got me into lyrical hip hop when I was 13. I have so much nostalgia for these songs, the deep cuts hit hard for the most part and this album has the best hits of his whole career.
I’m including the deluxe songs here too because is she gon pop is my cole song ever.

There are some songs on here I’m not huge on, like chaining day and forbidden fruit, but the highs are really high. I especially love the intro, land of the snakes and rich n*****. There are some ... read more

Beyoncé - 16 CARRIAGES

Quality Beyoncé. Amazing writing

Tacky and annoying but it has heart

79

EDIT: I don’t love this album as much as I did when it came out, like most people. But that’s mostly just because there’s a few songs here (back to me, hoodrat, paperwork) that I’m not huge on. But I really think there’s a lot of amazing songs here. I really love the title track, carnival, fuck sum, problematic, stars and do it. I don’t get the hate for this album at all. Vultures 2 on the other hand…

This album is a meticulously crafted masterpiece, ... read more

Little Simz - Drop 7

Never thought I’d say this on a little simz album …. But the beats carried.

93PUNX - 93PUNX

Holy shit 😂😂

Tapir! - The Pilgrim, Their God & The King Of My Decrepit Mountain

The music was cool, the concept was cool, the writing was okay but the voice was just atrocious to my ears.
This one just isn’t for me, but I respect the artistic vision. Very unique

The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy
70

This album was so instrumentally luscious, so emotionally poignant and so fun I was seriously blown away on almost every track.

This is an extremely strong debut

Logic - Fear
92

This is great. Best song I’ve heard in awhile, and I usually am not that into modern logic

Hit-Boy & The Alchemist - THEODORE & ANDRE
70

Two of the best producers to ever live just having fun and going back and forth over some very smooth and relaxing beats.

This was a treat.

Scrim - lonely boy
NR

This shit is so fucking long. And 14 more songs are coming?
I listened to the first 5 and just felt bored. I used to be a SB fan in like 2016-2017 but most everything they’ve done since then had just been seriously boring to me,
I may try to finish this one day to give it a serious rating… but for now I’m not going to put myself through that torture.

We need to stop normalizing this 25-40 song bs. Kid cudi’s album and this have both done this in this month alone and ... read more

Nicki Minaj - Big Foot

The worst diss track of all time. The easiest zero I’ve ever heard.

Katy Kirby - Blue Raspberry

I heard the first song and got so excited, the piano and her singing on there was perfect. I was instantly hooked. The songwriting was really cute, but cringe at times, and I really loved her voice

It’s tough to listen to front to back because the songs all really start to blend together. Still, this album is full of really great songs and sets a relaxing vibe as background music. It may get a little tedious when listening to the lyrics and following it closely, but I prefer this to a ... read more

Fontaines D.C. - Skinty Fia

This album has something seriously special about it. I come back to it more than any album from 2022, it feels so comforting and warm to me. I love his voice, the songwriting and the guitar work is so complementary to the overall vibe on here.

The strongest suit this album has for me is the songwriting. These are just some solid tunes, catchy as hell with really cool vocal inflections that are soothing to the ear.
My favorite songs on here are the into, Jackie Down The Line, I Love You and ... read more

Benny the Butcher - Everybody Can't Go

73->70

A solid album from Benny The Butcher. There were some REALLY amazing songs here, especially in the first half.
But then there were songs that felt like filler that I could tell weren’t at the same caliber as the stronger ones. I was surprisingly disappointed with the Griselda song on here. It ran on too long, the hook didn’t work for me and the verses got kind of boring with that looped beat.

The first 3 songs, TMVTL, and back again were my favorites.

The Smile - Wall of Eyes
75

A beautiful sonic adventure that was full of emotional crescendos that left me stunned. I truly think this is some of thom’s best work and blew their lest LP out of the water.

There were a few songs that felt like they ran on a little, but the little interesting noises and production choices that made the soundscape so atmospheric and unique would keep me intrigued even if there wasn’t much going on instrumentally or vocally.
And maybe I just need some more listens to better ... read more

Lyrical Lemonade - All Is Yellow

Bland, disjointed, boring, tedious, disappointing, too long 👎🏼

There were a few features here and there that I liked.

"@Shayden I am a huge beach boys fan. So I’m kind of confused as to why I feel this way. It almost feels like they’re covering beach boys songs I haven’t heard before, and something about it just doesn’t maintain my interest They do have some great songs and singles though, but for a whole album I wish they had more of their own identity. Merriweather Post Pavilion is a great example of an album that takes heavy Brian Wilson influence in the best way possible but really has its own identity and creates very unique art from it. This just leaves me feeling uninterested"

"@MatveyRyazanov sounds like you, along with a lot of his fans, have your mind made up. They found book(s) with naked little boys in his room. This is confirmed. He was a grown man who had a roster of little boys that would sleep in his bed with him. There is no world where this is appropriate, He had a bell security system above the bed that he would lay with the little boys in that would go off if someone was coming up to the room. There is testimony from more than just one kid. There was a little boy who was able to identify an allopecia mark on his penis. Also confirmed, but not used at the time of the trial. Those involved with the trial believed that if this penis evidence was used in court the jury may have had a harder time."

"Listen to pink skies, oak island, 28, I remember everything and tourniquet. I was in the exact same boat as you when I found him a few years ago, I was just telling my fiance that he has 3-5 songs in his discography that are pure magic and some of the best songs anyone has ever made in country. Pink skies is probably my favorite from him"

"@FalconGM on second listen today I’m not enjoying this nearly as much as I did last night tbh so this isn’t a hill I’m going to die on 😂😂 But I still like it around the same if not more than American dream. American dream has higher highs but the love songs / sentimental songs put me to sleep. And this album is easier to just put it on and drive bc it stays kinda menacing the whole way through until the last song"

Enough to come and make a review about it and drag the whole album over one word 😂 People like you are why people want to use that word again, policing people’s speech like this will only make them want to say it more. And who knows? Maybe scrim is mentally slow and has some diagnosis so he can say it as a slur he’s recaptured. lol. Who are you to say ? Seriously"
