Injury Reserve - By the Time I Get to Phoenix
90

A true masterpiece. The first post hip hop album in my eyes. The instrumentals, the lyrics, the energy… it’s beyond phenomenal.

RIP GROGGS

Björk & ROSALÍA - Oral
100

I literally cried when I heard this. How does her voice sound like it’s 1999-2001 again? Her soft and gentle, yet powerful voice gave me chills and sent me running to show my girlfriend.

I haven’t been huge on her recent albums but this…. This is one of the best songs in her whole discography. Rosalia fits perfectly here and the instrumental reminds me of a modern day vespertine. This is probably my favorite song of the year. I absolutely love this.

¥$ - VULTURES
60

Update…. Ugh it’s kind of growing on me. Lol.

This is one of the worst Kanye songs I’ve ever heard. Generic beat, boring verses, sleepy kanye part with horribly lyrics.
I like the outro and I like the flow Kanye has for a second when he talks about scooter’s bitch and I think it’s kinda cool what Ty does with his part but man; this feels like it should’ve been left on the cutting room floor not the lead single.

Kanye would need something on the level of ... read more

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (Drumless Edition)
40

I was expecting to still enjoy this without drums, instead these songs left me with a weird anxious feeling. Makes me really appreciate the original

André 3000 - New Blue Sun
80

Genuinely beautiful instrumental flute music. Great to read and sleep to.

Danny Brown - Quaranta
85

The most personal rap album I’ve heard in years. This was a side of Danny, who is one of my favorite rappers of all time, that I’ve only ever seen glimpses of.
This man is so talented; I don’t think people realize how much talent it takes to be able to master his previous sound, then create this album in an entirely different style of rap and master it too. All while being a creative genius poet and tackling extremely difficult topics in a way that makes you feel like ... read more

Drake - For All The Dogs Scary Hours Edition
71

Rating the scary hours 3 tracks only here. I don’t care what anyone says, these are the best drake songs to come out in this 2020 decade.

I heard a creativity and a passion in these songs that have been missing. The first two songs and the last song are all 90+ in my opinion, wick man and the J Cole one were the weakest here but even they had their place. The corny writing on these songs actually had some really funny lines that kept me smiling my whole listen.

My main complaint would ... read more

Aesop Rock - Integrated Tech Solutions
76

The song concepts, the writing, the production, the features, the cohesion… everything about this rap album was exceptional. I had never heard his music prior to this and I was blown away. I have been obsessing over songs like aggressive Steven, pigeonometry, mindful solutionism and living curfew since I heard them.

This is one of the best hip hop albums in this more conscious style that I’ve ever heard. He is a true wordsmith and really knows how to put an album together.

Lil Darkie - THE FUTURE IS DARK
10

This is truly awful cringe inducing music.

AJR - The Maybe Man
20

I grew up on Disney, but this don’t feel like Disney
The best AJR album. That is when it isn't trying to make the listener as miserable as possible to drag you down to Jack's level. It does this so often. The magic is not here. It feels like I am listening to pointless complaining from people too old to complain about what they are complaining about, then mentioning they are too old to complain, then proceeding to complain more. It is an agonizing cycle of them being miserable and then ... read more

PinkPantheress - Heaven knows
70

A lot of really great moments, I love the cohesive vibe and the features we’re on par with her performance and added something new to the track list to break up the sameness.
The sameness was really apparent about halfway through, I think she would’ve really benefited by taking more sonic risks and maybe expanding her sound just a little bit. It kind of felt like she played it safe for commercial reasons; but it was still typical great pink pantheress; which is both the reason I ... read more

Billie Eilish - Happier Than Ever
75

A more positive side to Billie that is less edgy, sonically brighter with a greater focus on a poppier sound that is easier to digest. I don’t think this is anywhere as interesting or consistent as her debut but there are some great tracks here and the song writing feels much more mature on songs like the title track and oxytocin.

Her voice is absolutely beautiful here, even with a more generic sound I still really love her presence and artistic vision.

Bob Dylan - The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan
90

The poetry, the delivery and the strip backed instrumentation (the acoustic guitar and harmonica)
intertwine to create one of the best blue-grass classics of all time.
This was me entry point to Bob, and in my opinion the best entry point in his discography. There are highlights on here such as don’t think twice and blowin in the wind, but none of these songs are anything less than amazing.

Metro Boomin - NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES
64

Metro improved so much since this album it’s kind of insane. There are a lot of classic trap bangers on here like 10 freaky girls and space cadet, but a lot of these songs are nowhere up to par with heroes and villains and come across as filler. A lot of the production feels very dated, but we get some amazing performances from gunna and thug and 21 that actually left me surprised. I think Travis Scott really underperforms pretty much anytime he pops up other than that brain-meltingly ... read more

Jane Remover - Frailty
88

A post hyper-pop masterpiece. Movies for guys is one of my favorite songs of the decade and the texture, songwriting, unique production choices and angsty spirit of this album is near-perfect.

I will probably be listening to songs off of Frailty like Kodak Moment and your clothes for the rest of my life, Jane gave us a classic with this album and proved herself to be one of the most creative artists working in music today.

Jane Remover - Census Designated
66

I just don’t really get this. It hasn’t clicked for me and I hate it. I’m going to revisit it and see if it changes.

An abrasive shoegaze album that is obviously a masterpiece, but it’s just not for me. I respect it, and after many listens I see that it is great but the noise is just not appealing to me and the songwriting isn’t anything I can emotionally latch onto.
I enjoy several tracks quite a bit, such as the opener and idling somewhere; but outside of that ... read more

The Alchemist - Flying High, Part 2
70

The beats are amazing as always, like, really fucking spectacular here. I was really feeling these instrumentals. The guests did their thing (especially Conway) and the vocal snippets were used perfectly on these songs.

The main issue I had with this was alchemist’s rapping. He had bars; but I don’t find his voice or his personality all that interesting and I spent a lot of his verses bored waiting for the feature. Which isn’t a great thing to last for the whole project. ... read more

"@Shayden I am a huge beach boys fan. So I’m kind of confused as to why I feel this way. It almost feels like they’re covering beach boys songs I haven’t heard before, and something about it just doesn’t maintain my interest They do have some great songs and singles though, but for a whole album I wish they had more of their own identity. Merriweather Post Pavilion is a great example of an album that takes heavy Brian Wilson influence in the best way possible but really has its own identity and creates very unique art from it. This just leaves me feeling uninterested"

"@MatveyRyazanov sounds like you, along with a lot of his fans, have your mind made up. They found book(s) with naked little boys in his room. This is confirmed. He was a grown man who had a roster of little boys that would sleep in his bed with him. There is no world where this is appropriate, He had a bell security system above the bed that he would lay with the little boys in that would go off if someone was coming up to the room. There is testimony from more than just one kid. There was a little boy who was able to identify an allopecia mark on his penis. Also confirmed, but not used at the time of the trial. Those involved with the trial believed that if this penis evidence was used in court the jury may have had a harder time."

I was in the exact same boat as you when I found him a few years ago, I was just telling my fiance that he has 3-5 songs in his discography that are pure magic and some of the best songs anyone has ever made in country. Pink skies is probably my favorite from him"

"@FalconGM on second listen today I’m not enjoying this nearly as much as I did last night tbh so this isn’t a hill I’m going to die on 😂😂 But I still like it around the same if not more than American dream. American dream has higher highs but the love songs / sentimental songs put me to sleep. And this album is easier to just put it on and drive bc it stays kinda menacing the whole way through until the last song"
