Anthrax finally hopping on the real thrash metal wave with this album, and it slaps. Joey’s vocals are really impressive and the riffs are insane. It’s true thrash fun in every way.
Favorite Song: The Enemy
HELL YEAH BROTHER FUCKIN SLAYERRRRRR!!! This is the first time we get to hear Slayer really sound like themselves, and what a fucking way to introduce your signature sound. Every single riff on this album sounds perfectly crafted to melt a white, conservative, Christian mother in 1985’s fucking face off of her skull. Some people say the production sounds bad, I say it sounds evil and hellish. Like the instruments are being played by the most rad band of demons in Hell. FUCK THIS ALBUM IS ... read more
Throughout all of my time listening to metal, I have always hated Megadeth. I’ve never liked even one song I’ve heard from them even once, mainly due to Dave’s absolutely insufferable voice. But, now that im going through ever bad in the Big 4’s discography something has just clicked with me. I actually had a pretty good time with this album. Dave’s vocals didn’t grate on me much at all, the riffs hit hard and it was just a lot of fun. I feel like I’m ... read more
The original songs here are pretty good but that Sex Pistols cover is pretty terrible
Getting closer to the Slayer sound we all know and love, but the songs here just aren’t that great. Riffs are somewhat forgettable and still feel just a bit too long.
Favorite Song: Chemical Warfare
This album is pretty underrated. It’s not thrash, but it’s some really fun Old School Heavy Metal with really good riffs and INCREDIBLE solos. The lead guitar playing on this album is shocking with how impressive it is. This album as a whole is just a lot of fun to jam out to and it deserves more praise.
Favorite Song: Soldiers Of Metal
It’s insane that this probably sounded like Satan himself made a record back in 1983 cause this shit is almost quaint nowadays. The mix is pretty rough and dry, but not in a way that really takes away from the experience. The main issue with this album is it feels like Tom’s vocals are barely even on it. Some songs go so long without any vocals I forget they aren’t instrumentals. Alongside that, some songs go on for to long in general. Thrash rarely needs songs over 4 minutes. ... read more
This album had me confused as hell. Felt like every section was something completely unexpected, which is fun at first, but gets tiring fast. Some songs pull it off incredibly, some don’t pull it off at all. It’s a very interesting, experimental album, but not the best ever.
Favorite Song: Red Wine and Discontent
Dissonant Death Metal that leans away from the atmosphere that I’m used to from the genre and more towards more standard death metal brutality. Especially in the vocals that get pretty fucking extreme. Honestly, and I never thought I’d say this, but I wish most of the songs were longer here. They’re so short it feels like they don’t get enough time to show off. I’d love to hear an album that even goes over an hour from these guys, they have some serious potential ... read more
Decided for whatever reason to give this a shot but I can’t even finish it why would you drop this
I’m convinced this album was stolen from the 80s and brought here. This is some generic but still good classic hardcore punk.
Favorite Song: Invalidation
Amazing atmosphere. The song lengths are way to much towards the end, they could easily be cut down and be much improved. I’m not sure if the drums are programmed or not, but they really sound like they are. It almost sounds like Infant Annihilator drums, which I’m not a fan of in this case. Aside from that, great riffs, great vocals, pretty good songwriting.
Favorite Song: Σηπτική Ανυπαρξία
Pretty fun if basic death metal. My only real issue is that the riffs tend to have way to many pinch harmonics in them, but that is in no way exclusive to this album. Other than that, can’t really go wrong here.
Favorite Song: Auto Anthrophagy
The first two songs are so fucking good, the third is decent, and the last ones are just a waste of time. I just don’t get stuff like that.
Favorite Song: The Octagonal Stairway
Is this album supposed to be a joke? From the random genre switch, to the ridiculous lyrics on some songs, to the insane music video of Mt. Skull I just notice a bunch of signs of them not actually taking this seriously at all. It is a little bit of a disappointing album, mainly due to them making one of my least favorite types of metalcore, but Pig Destroyer can’t do much wrong in my eyes. I hope if they drop another album it’s better than this, though.
Favorite Song: Circle River
I still dont get the genre of “slow, boring ass repetitive doom with one note every year”. Red Tar is pretty decent but Mass And Volume is just an absolute drag.
Kind of confused on why this sounds so bad, but it’s not that huge of a deal. I always love hearing heavier bands cover older songs and make them more intense, and PxDx is one of the best I’ve ever heard do it. I’m not a huge fan of the selection here (I really would’ve loved to hear them do Rise Above) but they do what they do great.
Favorite Song: Wolf’s Blood
This album is interesting because it feels like they took a more thrash metal approach to the songs this time. I don’t care for that as much as the Death Metal/Hardcore inspirations of the previous albums, but it’s still Pig Destroyer so it’s badass. The more political lyrics are a very welcome addition here too. Great album.
Favorite Song: The Bug
These mfs just can’t be stopped. This is ANOTHER insane, brutal, incredible Grindcore album that most bands in the genre would kill to be their best. My only complaints are that some of the songs get a little to long (in my opinion, Grindcore songs are generally short for a reason), and that JR kinda sounds like Chino Moreno when he screams. Besides that, this album is just amazing.
Favorite Song: Phantom Limb
Pig Destroyer Side: 65
Eh, I’m not crazy about what they did with this.
Favorite Song: Abraxas Annihilation
Coldworker Side: 84
Dayum this was heavy.
Antigama Side: 40
Jesus this sounds like shit and isn’t even good in the first place.
