I follow Cave town on Bandcamp and was alerted to this release as it came out, after giving it a thorough listen or two, I quite enjoyed what he laid out for the album. The slower songs weren't personally my cup of tea, but I understood the lyrics and meaning behind them, and it didn't diminish how I felt about them. Naturally I leaned more towards the glitchy and angry sounding pop tracks like Reaper and Straight Through My Head being my top contenders, I feel like each song has a ... read more

As per usual with Shayfer James, I quite enjoy the more twisted, wicked and dark songs, while the more slow and passive songs didn't quite hit the right spots for me. Overall this is something I enjoy and will likely find myself looping some songs as the mood comes.

Chat, this is so.... ass.... we're so cooked.

what's with the completely unneeded voice filters? It sounds like you're singing through a trumpet, badly at that. This genuinely does not sound like the TLT I know, overall disappointing, please keep your work to fan-songs, because while I agree with the sentiment of the album, political songs are CLEARLY not your cup of tea, maybe it's time to swap to coffee, decaf at that. Vocals are outright not there (please stop trying to ... read more

This album for me has a lot of high highs and an equal amount of low lows that could've probably been touched up too, most of the tuning is fine and well executed but can become grating at times with the pitch RIP tends to use them in. The topics involved in most of the songs feel pretty on par with what a Gen Z would be concerned with; cancel culture, self identity, rage at the medical system, ect. A lot of emotion driven topics.

(my album purchased from amazon did not include Spoiler ... read more

Penelope Scott - Hazards

Hazards, while appearing derivative of Public Void, has a more chaotic feeling found in glitchpop/core type songs, except it doesn't really work as well here when she leans into slower songs, it's a simmering that doesn't appetize. most songs are on par with what I expect out of Penelope, yet I cannot deny the ultimately social media girl feel of some of the EPs worst offenders, self care feels like more of a vent than a song and isn't all that enjoyable to listen to.
