OVERSCORE - Rest In Peace
NR

AVAILABLE ON SOUNDCLOUD, YOUTUBE AND NEWGROUNDS

I don't understand it.
Every single time I find a shred of joy or peace in life, I wake up the next day and remember absolutely none of it.
12 hours of sleep a night and I am exhausted; I am so tired of that laborious process of WAKING UP every single day.
I swear, I've already lived my life, just in the zone-outs and daydreams. All this dreaming and yet I go nowhere, because I always WAKE UP.

There's nothing for me on this side ... read more

Creo - Aura
90

Used to be my favorite song back when I was an EDM fan.
Creo is still easily the best EDM artist in the game, because I hate EDM now and love Creo. His creativity is just off the charts!

Procoa - traitor season
90

This is absolutely the most dense sound wall I've ever been hit by in my life... just wow, what a cathartic scream of sound, terrifying and comforting simultaneously. The lyrics are also remarkably well thought-out, even if they're intensely buried in the mix. The vocals are so drowned out, with an effect that makes them seem practically alien. In fact, all of this song is otherworldly. And something about it is so majestic.
Great job Procoa and n0stalgia!

Slayyyter - WOR$T GIRL IN AMERICA
57

Quite a few BANGER$ on this tracklist, although I noticed most of them tended to be in the first half of the album. Slayyyter really knows how to bring the energy, with both that heavy-handed use of distortion and her dynamic vocal performances (often with some SCREAMING!!) But the celebration did start to lose wind once I got to the back half, and it never quite recovered-- something just felt missing. Just a lot of volume and distortion without much substance, unfortunately

OVERSCORE - Bermuda

!! ONLY AVAILABLE ON SOUNDCLOUD, YOUTUBE, AND NEWGROUNDS !!

I spent 85 hours meticulously crafting this track, trying to reach as close to perfection as I could possibly achieve. In that way I guess the story of producing this track aligns really closely to the story I actually tell in the song! Potential, ambition, a flight into the fire. Heaven.
I don't want to reveal any more about the song or about the lyrics... these words have taken me forever to choose, and I've tried to layer ... read more

Procoa - i4i

This one's like nothing I've ever heard before.
The atmosphere of this song is just otherworldly, and it's unbelievably immersive. It's not just a wall of sound, it's a tidal wave, washing over you and drowning you in the strangest melancholy. There are a few really interesting mixing choices here that set this apart from an average shoegaze song though, like the bitcrushed singing and guitars-- which just added to the otherworldly feel.
Overall the song really just ... read more

Spiritualized - Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space
60

This album is filled to the brim with interesting ideas and riffs, but often Spiritualized sounds like they're drowning in their own sound, overwhelmed by it. Still, if I had to choose a sound to drown in, this album would not be a bad choice.

quickly, quickly - I Heard That Noise
75

Graham has found a wonderful style; gorgeous songwriting, mellow instrumentation, and beautifully raw vocal performance. All the tracks are pretty solid, with some incredible climactic moments that contrast really well with the stripped-back guitar and lyrical work of the majority of the runtime. The album is lovely!

Phoebe Bridgers - Punisher
94

Phoebe Bridgers is one of my favorite songwriters of all time, and this album is a masterful showcase of her ability. She has a distinctly soft delivery for most of her songs, singing over minimalist, intimate instrumentals that flow beautifully along. Despite the cozy, mellow nature of these songs, there is no mistaking-- this is one CATHARTIC album. With each passing line that Bridgers practically whispers, the melancholy woven into the music gradually just smothers you. It's a uniquely ... read more

papercuties - soft
92

A beautiful track with brilliant sound design and vocal layering. Papercuties has composed something truly special here! The structure is extremely unique, gradually building without much repetition, until it launches into a swift and climactic drop at the end… there’s nothing like it. Go give this guy some listens!!

kaya! - internal dialogue
68

Although this style didn’t click with me as much as I anticipated, the emotional setting absolutely did. This conflicted, heavy sound kaya! brings is stunning. The production is huge, layered, and complex, with massive waves of noise that relentlessly crash over the listener, and it’s beautiful— although overwhelming at times.
My main gripe with this album is the way the vocals are mixed; I can hardly hear them for the majority of the album’s runtime. I didn’t ... read more

acloudyskye - To tell you the truth
75

The atmosphere created by the simple guitar strumming and drum rhythms… This song is with so much more than the sum of its parts.

Aries - IN THE FLESH
85

This is the most I've ever heard in a minute and 50 seconds.

Olฤ“ka - Sunshine When It Rains / See The World
95

I can’t remember the last time I added a song to my playlist this quickly.
Human Error is going to be gorgeous.

wishlane - FIGURE EIGHT
73

I did not expect wishlane to have a breakcore drop at the end of a track, and I could not have predicted it would sound this awesome

wishlane - SUCKER PUNCH
90

One of the catchiest grooves of the year! Wishlane once again returns to drop a single, but unlike Mindreader, this one’s got a FEEL. The guitar riff and stylish vocal delivery win me over on every single listen. Overall an outstanding, very well executed song!

Boards of Canada - The Campfire Headphase
80

This is truly a beautiful and immersive album, the duo has really honed their style with this one! Dreamy loops gradually fade in and out, lovingly weaving through my headphones. The soft guitar samples (and just the calm sampling in general) are wondrously soothing. However, behind that apparent tranquility, The Campfire Headphase is hiding a more anguished sentimentality than it seems at first. The emotional effect of Boards of Canada’s music is very unique, I’d recommend this ... read more

Good Kid - Wall
65

I’ve been waiting for Good Kid to just branch out from their formulaic style, and they have continued to just stick right with it. Their entire discography is full of very similar tracks, with few exceptions.
However I must say— that formula they’re stuck in? It still hasn’t lost its charm.

tv room - Say It Back
75

TV room is an artist who has found a very interesting niche with his style, and most of his discography is very hit-or-miss. This song, however, is a hit.
This was one of my first exposures to glitch pop, and I remember being absolutely wowed. This song is absolutely EUPHORIC, as if every second of the short runtime has been completely infused with joy. His smooth voice blends perfectly with the stylish, slick hyperpop sound, and I can promise the melody will be stuck in your head. Meanwhile, ... read more

Muse - Drones
40

What is he even talking about?!?!

Overexaggerated, overdramatic, overinflated. MUSE continually overhypes their own music, and take everything about their brand way too seriously, to an almost laughable extreme. However it is abundantly clear that the band is made up of incredibly talented musicians, with some incredibly technically challenging moments that honestly kick ass.
If the songwriting didnt sound more like a sci-fi movie with a 0% score on Rotten Tomatoes, maybe I could find myself ... read more

"Mixed feelings maybe, but MOSTLY POSITIVE. Huge respect for just how meticulously this music is crafted, and the incredible amount of effort and emotion you obviously poured into each song. It’s incredibly inspiring to me; I hope I can create an album that conveys such a passionate and emotional experience as this one day!! Also, I’ve been returning a lot to the wrong idea, engulfed, and definitely paint the canvas white. The opening few minutes of the wrong idea are HEAT, engulfed lives up to the title beautifully, and paint the town white is one of the best songs of the year no joke. Just wanted to reiterate how incredible you are as an artist!"

"Thanks!! This was absolutely a huge project, the product of a ton of time and effort. Don’t worry, I’m leaning away from Drum N Bass, but I’m still quite proud of how this sounds. Honestly I think the non-DnB ones are kinda the best, like tracks 8 and 9"
