wait why haven't I rated this it's literally my favourite song of all time
Even though Harry’s attempt at making something a bit more modern, experimental and refreshing sometimes feels like an amateur’s first go at a new thing, it’s overall a really solid experience, and even though it doesn’t have tons of standouts, every song is, at worst, a solid track, and, at best, an utter blast to listen to.
Now time for song-by song breakdown of my quick in-the-moment thoughts, which is what I've done for the three (now four) albums I've ... read more
Yeah, I mean, when four out of four singles are on your SOTY contender list, you're prolly gonna like the album. And thankfully, my new favourite indie rock band has delivered by giving us an incredible, quirky, brilliantly-written, dense, catchy and beautiful debut LP. Even the minute-long intro is fantastic. The vocals and vocal melodies are exquisite, the guitars are beautiful and layer-y and just perfect and the lil synths scattered around really add a lot. And goodness the ... read more
A little conflicted on this release, cause Atlas have gone a bit more typical modern thall-y metal, even shedding lots of the Finnish folk instruments (and language) that defined their breakout LP, but these songs do feel equally as emotional, impactful and punchy as those on Ukko. What's here is still so fucking good, but I wish there was more folk, more Finnish and more rawness.
Yeah the side project of my favourite band was sure to be fucking phenomenal too, and whaddaya know, it IS.
I get that it's kinda manufactured to be, but holy hell this is catchy.
Just an incredibly stunning song, if a little monotonous and a tad boring. The two 0s greatly disappoint me, wtf guys.
Edit: Ok this is so so fucking addictive, I think it's certainly as good as Ay Papery Bye, holy shit it hypes me up so much and it only came out half an hour ago.
Not as good as Ay Paparey Bye, but still extremely good, and as manic and energetic. It will be incredible live. I love the more guitar-driven instrumentation, and damn it's just a banger.
It's a super catchy pop rock/alternative rock song, with great vocals (and backing vocals), really nice-sounding and hard-hitting guitar, very relatable lyrics, a fire guitar solo and also it's really gay. Like literally the perfect mix.
Very dramatic and not in the good way like the other dramatic songs of this year. Blatantly making an opera song to try and hop on the train that Nemo and JJ left, and not understanding that those songs were much more than just 'opera'. The string layers are nice, and get really layery at the end which sounds awesome, but the whole song is meh and I'm sure the Jury eat this up for no reason except she has good vocals. But then again she's like 16 (?) so I can't imagine ... read more
I’m not kidding this is easily the best UK entry ever. I fucking love this so much. That super polyphonic and dense ending is fucking nuts and the exact thing I love in songs. My country has finally tried to understand Eurovision and has blown it out the park.
During your time listening to this 3 minute long song, there's an estimated 60% chance that a Palestinian will get shot and killed.
Yeah I’m gutted for SHWR, especially given they tied for first :( BUT this song is really brilliant, and the performance elevates it so much, to where I enjoy it more than SHWR’s performance. Such a brilliant entry for Lithuania once again, and something completely different to anything I’ve seen or heard before. Also, admittedly, this will probably will do better than SHWR would have done, maybeeee idk.
