This new album by @zig is certainly a very solid release. The atmosphere, orchestration and electronics are its strengths, but I felt that most songs just didn't necessarily reach their potential, whether a final climax or certain parts that felt empty, dragging or a little cliche. But still, all the songs achieve the feat of being very well-made and beautiful ambient-y glitchy electronic tracks. My faves were definitely 'Repaint the Stars', 'Below the Waves' and ... read more
Edit: Nah this is just growing and growing on me. The live performance is just really damn good.
Pretty solid song for Austria, the second best option imo. It's in German which is cool, it's a moody, groovy and dancey track, it has a great live performance and is a little quirky and fun. Gutted for Frevd and the fact we won't get a metal song this year now. And the fact it was the best metal song of any national selection ever (bar Dor from Romania this year but that won't ... read more
Edit: that staging was fucking mental. I think these guys might take it now.
EASILY their best song. I'd be happy if this went to ESC, if somehow Felicia is snubbed (which would be devastating tbh)
Silly and catchy and groovy song. Darshan's vocal melodies are always fire. Evan pisses me off so bad idk why I feel bad but god he does.
Maybe it had been overhyped, as well as being made worse on this streaming release, but I felt this was really underwhelming. The climax felt watered down and I expected it to build even further, and it just... didn't. The beginning was gorgeous, but idk maybe this missed its potential. I haven't listened to the original, so maybe that version shines a light on the song's true brilliance, but for me, right now, there are about 5 songs on Breach I prefer.
Just an incredibly well-executed pop song, with no empty sections, no generic-sounding melodies and drum patterns, ACTUAL SONIC DEVELOPMENT, and therefore a really great last chorus. Also lots of staging potential. Excited for how high the ceiling of this entry may end up being.
Me when I'm in a 'most underrated Eurovision national selection song' competition and this comes up: Wow I agree so much
biiiig step down from her last effort. Sounds like it's desperately trying to sound like Tattoo, to where I can even see some copyright issues. But whatever, it's a nothing-burger of a girlpop anyway, at the end of the day, regardless of similarities to ESC winning songs.
Although I'm shocked this won (and pissed once again at the Spanish jury), I'm still very happy, cause the studio version of this is great. It combines beautiful melodies and harmonies, with the bouncy, dance vibe that Spain seems to appreciate. But I say studio version, because after that bad live, I'm so perplexed that the juries "loved" this so much.
Ok. Hmm. Fine. Yeah no actually this is a really good entry for Latvia. Obviously I am truly gutted for Kautkaili, to the point where I might even be more gutted than whatever the fuck happened in Estonia, but at least the result is a very very very good song, a song nearly as good as Ollie's, for Latvia. It's a stunning ballad, with modern electronic elements, and an insanely moving performance and message. This should, SHOULD be a likely qualifier, which I am grateful for, but of ... read more
So happy this won over Sissal or Ericka, although I wonder how the hell Myrkur didn't make the superfinal. Anyway, this song is great, super well-produced and in Danish!!!!!!!
Edit: OK HOLY SHIT that live performance was absolutely fantastic, this has already grown MASSIVELY. wow.
Firstly, this song (Too Epic To Be True) is the definition of middle-of-the-road. It's ok, it's fine, it's tolerable.
HOWEVER, the fact that this WON Eesti Laul over Ollie is truly, outstandingly baffling. I think this may be one of the craziest missed opportunities in a Eurovision national selection, in HISTORY. From a potential top 5 result, to a certain non-qualification, is truly an insane decision that Estonia for some reason made. I can't imagine Ollie will return ... read more
THAT LIVE PERFORMANCE WAS SO INCREDIBLE. Eurovision should be ashamed that she won't be able to win it with this song.
I guess 2026 is the year of amazing metal songs in Eurovision selections??! Well I am ABSOLUTELY not complaining. This is a very very well executed metalcore song, with brilliant atmosphere, some actually decent guitar tone on some chugging sections and a massive chorus. No seriously this chorus is soooo good. And it's the favourite even with Eurofans?? Ok hell yeah.
