Raahhh so twinkly and beautiful and the vocals are so good and these people are very hot-I MEAN really talented.
Three kinda trippy, vibey and noisy indie country bangers. Real nice work from Enzo. Loved the interesting chords and chord sequences, and the guitar tones throughout. Also great vocals as always.
A fantastic collection of moody and cinematic synthwave, with ambient, post-rock and dream pop undertones that give it an incredible atmosphere. The first two tracks are especially great. For a band with 150 monthly listeners, it's a mind-blowing EP, and it's so re-listenable and enjoyable. Give it a listen if you wanna be swept away in dreamy, vibey synthwave.
Maybe the best EP ever released ever. The only piece of music in the history of the world to combine slam with a lute from the 1600s. Genuinely great slam as well.
Visionary, both unironically and ironically.
Thought I'd like this a lot more given the snippets I heard. It has moments that I really enjoyed, such as track 4, 9 and 14, but I just cannot bare these lyrics. Maybe it's not the type of writing I like, but it is just super cringy to me. Objectively, the storytelling is good, but I don't look for a singer describing in detail their relationship, in music I listen to. I do like lots of the instrumentals, but lots also just felt like taking bits from popular modern artists. Some ... read more
Rolo Tomassi return with a compact, beautiful and brutal EP that continues the stylings of their 2022 album. Eva's clean vocals are as outstanding as ever, and the more prominent use of her gnarly screams are a very pleasant surprise. Dead Language absolutely RIPS, the ambience throughout, but most notable on the opener is soooo transcendent, and the closer is one of the most cathartic songs of the year.
Incredible experience.
When 'Thought You Were Waving' popped up on my Discover Weekly around when it came out, I thought of it as a very solid emo-ish post-hardcore song, listened to it loads, followed the band and forgot about it. Then came last Friday, where I realise that I recognise a band name of an album on the front page of this website and look 'em up on Spotify.
Then I listened to this album and it pretty perfectly fits my description for the song. Love the vocals and vocal melodies and ... read more
Oh look, another incredible and emotional folk-ish/country-ish/emo-ish banger. Seriously, using the random album feature can sometimes be a gift.
Absolutely incredible, super emotional folk-ish/country-ish/emo-ish song
The recent debut album from Dmytro Demura's electronic side project is an immensely atmospheric, brilliantly produced collection of drum and bass tracks that, to me, don't stand out enough on their own. However, the album as a full experience was definitely a solid time, even though the 29 minutes seemed to last quite a bit longer. Overall, a very well made, energetic and enjoyable, but slightly one-note, album that would have been improved by more songs that went somewhere. Fireflies ... read more
Warriyo is truly and undeniably back.
With this and Dunes being incredible, it's clear Yannis is and never was just defined by 'Mortals' and its success. Excited for all that's to come.
Taylor Swift seems to have good ideas on 'The Life of a Showgirl', in more places than her last two records, but it's terrible, disconnected lyricism and continued reliance on boring pop tropes, both lets it down overall, and diminishes the effect of its high points. My ratings and thoughts of each track as I listened:
The Fate of Ophelia - 82/100 - Liked the drum fill in the first few seconds. Appreciate her using a non-4/4 time signature at some points. Typical, but effective ... read more
My most anticipated album of the entire year is finally out and it’s sooooo peak. As bizarre, goofy and extreme as any Igorrr project, but the more pure metal songs are a very welcome addition. Of course, the complexity, technical ability and attention to detail is off the charts, and although meshing avant-garde metal, baroque, breakcore and more, the project is consistent, weirdly catchy and an absolute blast to listen to, resulting in possibly Igorrr’s best LP so far.
A diverse and very enjoyable solo album from Hayley Williams, that shows how experimentation meshed with excellent songwriting and instrumentation, as well as pop sensibilities, can produce a fantastic result. My ratings and thoughts of each track as I listened:
Ice In My OJ - 100/100 - Literally what an opener. Loved the beefy, punchy bass synth and guitar and the distorted almost-screaming vocals. Did not expect this, but I’m excited.
Glum - 78/100 - Didn’t looove the vocal ... read more
Well the first 25 seconds are really good and the rest is dogshit. 25 is 13% of 190 and the song is 190 seconds.
Perfect!
