Zivsick & Nolan are two out of the big three of Canada (shoutout Grace Abnormal). there's no disputing it at this point. as someone who has really fallen back in love with rap and hip hop over the last six months to a year, this project was EXACTLY what i was wishing for. seven tracks of straight rap over fantastic production, with great utilization of samples throughout. Cuban Linx is an early SOTY contender for me. love the vibes on this EP, just dripping in sauce across the board. i ... read more
really fun record. lots of weird tracks on here and i don't think every swing hits but its got a lot of charm & character to it. gets better as it goes along.
i really love ipod touch. rest of the album is alright but mostly isn't my thing unfortunately. delete was cool
pretty underwhelming tape. i know it's supposed to be a sampler type project but very few of the songs actually stand out and most of them just blend into one another to the point where i kinda just zoned out. ultimately feels like mostly a bunch of mediocre leftovers and the tracks that aren't older still feel like a step below the usual quality level i expect from this collective. does a bad job at highlighting the new members too; unfortunate across the board.
one of the loudest albums ever i think. way too much for me most of the time, especially frustrating when i can only make out half the lines on the record due to all the noise. it does end with like one of the greatest songs ever though. shapeshifter anthem.
the standout is the production here; it borders incredible more often than not. chops are so dirty and awesome. find it difficult to really resonate with the a lot of lyricism when i was so busy being swallowed by the production, but that’s more a me thing than the album.
So What? goes fuckin' crazy. prefer the first three tracks to the back half of the EP but there's not a bad song in here.
gnarly is easily like two or three times as bad as this one. the chorus is pretty terrible but the rest of the song is just a tasteless version of a 2017-18 Poppy song. i'd still listen to this a hundred times before listening to gnarly in full.
pretty great record here. Djo's got a good sound here; contemplative with a groove. it's fun and moody. the synths mixing with the more indie production is a good vibe. i think people have gotta stop being surprised when an artist is good at more than just one medium. shoutout Joji for dropping that single that's a discount End of Beginning sonically or i might've not checked this album out.
the cool thing about nishith is that they drop music and it is good music. all hits no miss. tight and concise ep that’s got a lovely sound to it and marin is so right, nishith attaching to plane imagery is so fitting for her it’s crazy. i could say all the usual shit about how it’s an improvement in every which way from the last project but you already know that. catchy, pretty music that’s got a soul to it. the last track hits hard. optimistic in the face of it all. ... read more
DWWL live in Metropolis now. Fuck Gotham City.
really great vibes on this one. love how much fun these boys are clearly having on here together. feels like the guys just hanging out, having a good time and deciding to put together a quick track. performances here feel effortless, everyone's in this casual, relaxed pocket while throwing out bars with an infectious energy. lots of little moments in each verse that are highlights; i love it when artists call back to their own music so ... read more
nothing says confidence in your album like slapping two mega hits from five years ago at the end of it
this is some of the worst written music i’ve heard in a long, long time. the production is cool at times (and lame at other times) but holy shit these two are not good at rapping at all. memberberry ass music; putti by shitty references does not a good song make. billie jean might be one of the most insulting songs i’ve heard in a while. Rebecca please start collaborating with real artists instead of parody adjacent white rappers.
it’s mostly pretty decent music but her schtick just isn’t doing it for me anymore.
pharrell might be washed. someone needs to give him a new synth i think he lost all the good ones in the neptunes divorce. record is okay. pusha and malice are pretty consistently great. kendrick and tyler features are alright. nas verse is dope as fuck. who let pharrell sing so much on the record it sounds so bad man.
