One of the best rap albums of all time in terms of production and lyrics, an absolutely incredible list of featuring, a redemption album for kanye west's career in a period where he was being called the villain of the music scene after the dramatic events of the time. He literally replied "alright cool i like being the villain of the scene". Some of the best songs of all time on this album, really.
Not the strongest album of his discography, but certainly the most vulnerable up to this point, a generational album capable of creating a new generation of artists based on the sound that came out of this album.
last episode of the College trilogy, definitely the "weakest" but by no means can its status as a legendary album be denied, influencing the entire culture with its production, some slightly weaker songs lower the consistency of this album a lot but the quality of the high points make it a truly appreciable album, it's no secret.
Sequel to The College Dropout, but still not that much weaker, really a very solid project and one of Kanye West's best, it manages to hit many high points and above all emotional ones dealing with everyday topics.
Classic Kanye West album, revolutionary and groundbreaking, revolutionizing hip-hop to it's core, an album written on stone. It's a 100/100 perfect album, and one of, if not the greatest debut album of all time. Tracks like Two Words, Family Business, Jesus Walks and The New Workout Plan are ground breaking and the kind of tracks that won't be heard on an album for a long time.
This is one of my favorite albums just from the vibe that I get from it, the rating this album gets could be a lot higher just because I understand that people can find this album repetitive because of the current themes and the attitude that Brakence presents on the songs of this album. I really enjoyed, the Glitch Pop elements of the production are really great, I love all the production on this.
For one of JID's first projects it's incredibly solid. It has a style all its own and on unlikely bases, sometimes almost cartoonish, it manages to show his skills, his flow even if young, are unmatched.
Where do I even begin...
In this album Tyler experiments more than any other album. He explores an area completely outside of his previous works, although there are moments where he applies his style of rap in the sound of IGOR, this is mainly a "fusion album" as it blends various genres and varies incredibly on the production from soul, a sort of experimental / alternative hip hop and sometimes even lofi??? In some aspects he really takes on many influences, clearly Pharrell and ... read more
One of the best albums I've heard in recent years at the level of quality, JID is truly something else.... one of my personal favorite albums for the ability to express street themes and simple life situations as if he were telling an unexplored reality (The Forever Story) with a conscious tone, immaculate flow, and phenomenal technique.
I'm truly speechless, he managed to make lil durk do a good feature.... JID is a great premise for the future of hip hop, eagerly awaiting his next ... read more
Absolutely beautiful post-mortem album, thinking about how the thought is placed chronologically, it really favors the musical evolution that it had in the following years, not having aged badly at all and thanks to the production and the Estate still managing to have a fresh sound while dealing with truly profound themes. I am emotionally very attached to this album, on a conceptual level, to its vibe and for its quality and its themes. It's incredible how the things that he talks about ... read more
extremely SOLID album from peggy this time around, after the release of the "director's cut", although still good, I can understand why she decided to keep the original more compact, and more consistent in quality. Incredibly powerful tracks with instrumentals of all kinds taking influences from other genres making it a very entertaining listen with solid features from Denzel Curry and Vince Staples.
Fav Tracks: SIN MIEDO, New Black History, Either On or Off the Drugs, I ... read more
Solid addition to the original ILDMLFY, creating a more focused and fluid flow of the album with the addition of the tracks directly within the album, giving more of an idea of the atmosphere and making the complete picture of the album but at the cost of a drop in quality. Which is actually the purpose of this album, so peggy's effort to show all the "fruits" of this era is appreciated, somehow capturing her way. Honestly listening to this album is quite an experience, ... read more
