This is my first time listening to fakemink so his voice sounded annoying at first but it grew on me a little. The beats were quite good, but nothing special.
Overall decent, but I'm glad it wasn't longer.
I listened to this whole album on a plane and I just got off the flight remembering maybe 3 tracks
Edit: 75 -> 88
Yeah it sure did stick with me more. The parts I found annoying on first listen got less so, and the beat changes sounded way bigger and more profound combined with a closer listen to the lyrics.
Not sure how to feel about this one. I was impressed by their lyricism for most of their tracks, but the instrumentals were very hit or miss for me. Maybe I'm too basic for this type of music, but it just felt a bit overdone at times.
I think I liked it overall, and I ... read more
Songs were calming with a little bit of intrigue, some still felt pretty drawn out though,
I see this album as greater than the sum of its parts. Some of the songs didn't quite do it for me, but the overall theming was so powerful that I can easily look past the (few) flaws.
That being said, Empire Ants might be a top 1 Gorillaz song and I will stand by this.
Was not bored for most of this album's 25 track run, which surprised me. If he trimmed off just a few songs, this album would be on par with some of his best.
If Zach Bryan was being played on the radio instead of Morgan Wallen, I wouldn't dislike country as much as I do
Pleasantly surprised by this release. I love the progression from high-energy, upbeat tracks at the beginning of the mixtape to more downbeat and introspective ones towards the end. Will be coming back to this soon.
Definitely not my thing, and it doesn't even feel very special for what it's trying to be, but I just want to say that I love that Poppy as successful she is despite all the shit she went through early in her career. I will gladly support her as an artist without listening to very much of this album <3
See this is why I never say I "hate a certain genre." There's always going to be something within that genre that is worth listening to..
His voice got way less annoying, but that came with the drawback that it no longer stands out among the crowd of white male alt-pop/R&B artists.
Not that he’s bad or anything. If most of these songs came on the radio, I probably wouldn’t even change the station. Hell, I might even start vibing out to a few of them.
Despite the occasional eye roll that some lyrics earned from me, the production choices were just barely interesting enough to keep me somewhat engaged throughout.
During that long pause in the middle of Song for the Deaf I legitimately thought my audio cut out, and then the band started playing again and laughing at me guys I feel so stupid
I don't know, to me it's not as bad as everyone says it is. The whole spoken-word rock thing was pretty interesting, and it's something pretty new to me. I also like how many of the tracks have a bassline that's bouncy and sounds like a heartbeat.
I Hit My Head All Day is probably my favorite track because of its catchiness and the fact that she kinda sings in this one. Overall, I kind of like it. Nothing amazing really, just some solid indie rock that I might feel like ... read more
I don't think I've ever physically recoiled in reaction to a song playing before. I was listening at 25 percent volume and still I was fighting the urge to rip my earbuds out of my head.
I swear I have definitely listened to this album when I was a little kid., as most of these songs seem so familiar to me. Maybe it's nostalgia/familiarity bias, but each and every track is consistently great, no track is even close to being a dud.
Now jazz is not really by thing but on the right occasion this thing HITS. I highly recommend giving it a listen on a day where it's lightly snowing (bonus points if it's at night). There is no cozier feeling than that.
