For my 100th review, I decided to challenge myself by reviewing “Trout Mask Replica,” one of the most polarizing albums ever made. I’ve had an empty document with just “100th review” for hours. I wasn’t even sure where to start. How do you review an album that actively defies every music convention that we know? How do you review an album that confuses a person even after multiple listens? Well, I tried my best, and writing this review has furthered my ... read more

Iron Maiden just dropped the album cover of the year! Oh… and the music is decent I guess. I was cautiously hyped and got what I expected.

I really wanted to give this a 70 based off the cover alone, but the music fell short on this one. However, I’m impressed that Iron Maiden can still drop quality albums this far into their career, but the main problem with the band’s most recent output is their focus on quantity. Ever since the mid-80s, Iron Maiden has incorporated ... read more

So… I’m back! This is the longest I’ve gone without writing a review, and I didn’t even intend to be on a break for this long. Every time I tried to review an album for the past couple of weeks, I would either just forget to, or some distraction would delay me. I also started school recently, so I’ll be forced to review in a limited capacity. I decided to return by reviewing one of the strangest things Weezer has ever done.

Whenever I’m bored, I like to ... read more

Richard D. James’ Discography #7: Xylem Tube EP

Before I start, I just want to acknowledge how AMAZING this cover art is. It’s so colorful, and the title font is very nice. As for the music, “Xylem Tube” is a step down from “Digeridoo” and ranges from just being decent to good. The presence of IDM and ambient techno is growing stronger in James’ works, but there’s still the quickly-tiring acidcore and industrial techno sound that remains intact. ... read more

Richard D. James’ Discography #6: Pac-Man

“Pac-Man” is the only project released under the Power-Pill pseudonym and is basically an EP based around a novelty track. Judging by the title, the central theme around these tracks are obvious. The EP consists of the original edit, three remixes, and finishes off with the original full version. This is definitely much more engaging than James’ other early works because it samples the classic pac-man chiptune melody. The ... read more

Richard D. James’ Discography #5: Digeridoo

Ah yes, my favorite electronic artist, The Aphex Twin. I’m glad he dropped “the” from the name. Despite the “the” in the name, this is technically the first Aphex Twin project. The “Digeridoo” EP is centered off the title track which was originally titled “Aboriginal Mix” on “Analogue Bubblebath, Vol. 2.” Additionally, the track, “Isoprophlex” from “Analogue ... read more

Hey Mate,
Just wondering if you were able to contribute to a list by @CamDoesMusic and @truthfulreviews based upon your 10 favourite 90's albums. This would work through you messaging myself a list from 1 being the best and 10th being the 10th best album you have listened to from the 90's. If you are able to contribute with a quote summarising the particular album as well that would be awesome! Your information delivered to us will be used to create a list named "AOTY Users Favourite 90's Albums".

Thank You So Much, Have a Great Day :)

About

My username has absolutely no meaning behind it. I just typed a bunch of random letters because I couldn’t think of a good name.

I’m taking a break from reviewing. I haven’t had enough time to keep a consistent review schedule, and it’s felt like a chore recently. I’m still active on the site and hopefully I have the motivation to review again :)

One album per artist. I also frequently edit this list either because an album has grown on me or I’ve recently come across an album I thought was amazing.
