I’m a little late, but I’ll review this anyway.
I have noticed that this album has been a bit polarizing with the main complaints being that it sounds like a generic indie album and that the songs sound similar. However, I loved this. The album reminds me of the works of Fiona Apple and Florence + the Machine. I love Tamara Lindeman’s vocals and the arrangements and production are well done. The part of the album I appreciated the most was the lyrics about climate change. Although The Weather Station are not the first artists to sing about climate change, Lindeman sounds passionate about the topic.
The record is not all that different sounding from other indie pop/folk albums, but an artist can never go wrong with the sound. ‘Ignorance’ seems to be The Weather Station’s breakthrough with the independent music scene, getting much more attention than their previous albums. Additionally, the album is deserving of its praise and I see nothing but great things in the band’s future.
