Kenny Rogers & The First Edition - The First Edition
84

Only one song on here gained any notable attention, that being "Just Dropped In". Besides that, there are still great tracks that I'd recommend. "I Found A Reason" and "Shadow In The Corner Of Your Mind" are especially charming. A few of the latter tracks do get tiring, although "Church Without A Name" lets the edition go out with a bang. I wish their was a little more like that great third song, though I definitely [GOT BORED TRYING TO BE ... read more

Jed Stark - Headrush
90

POV: You're watching JimmyHere's YLYL videos and decide to find out what music he uses to avoid copyright. Honestly, I'm not the biggest fan of instrumentals, but Jed Stark is very talented. I wound up really liking Headrush and this guy must be underrated af. No wonder why that bald man uses songs of his to fill in for copyrighted stuff.

Dot Dot Curve :) - Til The Wheels Fall Off
44

I can't tell if they wan't to be taken seriously or not (better of the latter). Til the Wheels Fall Off is pretty funny for me, as it just sounds like a parody of Crunkcore. Got the so-bad-it's-good songs that are... well pretty much everything mentioned as favorites. Honestly, by concept of sound, you'd might think they'd be worse than most crunkcore bands, given their crazy levels of autotune and goofy beats, but they're probably much more tolerable than ... read more

311 - Uplifter
86

Uplifter features a cleaner sound, which usually results in a duller experience in most cases. However, it actually appears to work pretty well for 311 here. It's not too jarring or draining-of-life, and dare I say even ups some tracks. Pretty shocked that this is one of their least popular albums, especially since it was consistently better than their last two records.

SXMPRA - COWBELL WARRIORS!

Yep, this aged terribly.

Imagine Dragons - Mercury – Act 1
60

After the crap fest that was Origins, Imagine Dragons made a much more tolerable album three years later, Mercury Act 1. Something I noticed while listening to this is that they seem to be the most leaning towards rock since 2015. Even though there's still a fair amount of lesser tracks, I found quite a bit worth enjoying. It's almost like a worse version of AWOLNATION. Hoping that Mercury Act 2 CAN keep this decency (Please)!

Imagine Dragons - Natural
82

The only actual good song from Origins.

Dirty Heads - Staloney
55

Might be a hot take, but I find this song kinda boring. I guess the production isn't too bad.

Mother Mother - FINGER
20

This is why subtlety exists.

Morgan Wallen - Last Night
53

Kinda generic but nothing that really grinds my gears

Dirty Heads - Dirty Demo
73

For my birthday, I decided to do a short review of the Dirty Heads' "Dirty Demo", but there's actually two of them, so I will check the other out another time. Two tracks here, "Antelope" and "No Time For Ya'll" would later appear on the Special Edition of Any Port in a Storm. While the previous wasn't changed much at all (judging from the audio I found on YouTube), the latter was originally almost a minute longer, which honestly makes its stay ... read more

Nickelback - Miss You
26

Competing against Mississippi for how many "I's" you have, eh?

Tom Sawyer - Momma
10

Barely saved from a single digit score and it's thanks to the outro. For the best experience, repeat the words back (you'll still lose your mind, but it'll be slightly more fun).

Skillet - Better Than Drugs
84

Mention of drugs in a Christian Rock song is gold

Gorillaz - The Fall
63

The idea of basing an album around visiting a different country was good, but the execution got a little screwed up. A lot of these songs don't really go anywhere with it and overall, most tracks are pretty forgettable. Really good songs can still be found, however.

Favorite Songs: Amarillo, Revolving Doors, Bobby In Phoenix, Hillbilly Man, Detroit
Least Favorites: The Speak It Mountains, Seattle Yodel, The Joplin Spider

Limp Bizkit - Red Light-Green Light

So much missed potential here

Limp Bizkit - Results May Vary
51

I'll admit, the results varied for me, even if the balance leaned a bit harder on shit. Even some of the "limpier" songs were below their standards. "Almost Over" and "Red Light-Green Light" suffer from one-word one-line syndrome; surely Fred could have at least tried to make decent rhymes there. "Let Me Down" and "Lonely World" are both pretty whiny, and the previous is probably the most forgettable track on the record. A lot of the ... read more

The Mamas & The Papas - Monday, Monday
77

Hearing this every Monday was the worst part of fifth grade.

Three Days Grace - Riot
85

Kinda just a tamer version of "Break Stuff" but still pretty solid.

System of a Down - Storaged Melodies
91

You know you've hyperfixated on SOAD for a while once you've found this.
For my 400th rating and my one-year anniversary of being on AOTY, I figured I'd listen to the unofficial System Of A Down album, Storaged Melodies. The reason being that System was the band that really got me into music. I have listened to this once before on Spotify, meaning a few tracks were absent, but now that I've had the full experience, I can say that this was a really fun ride! The album is a ... read more
