it's gonna take me a while to digest this one, this was not at all what I expected from K Dot. not saying it's disappointing or anything, i did enjoy it, but i'm gonna need some time before i'll gather my thoughts for how this fits in his catalog. for now, my main takeaway is KENDRICK SAYS TRANS RIGHTS BABEYYYYYY
Edit: ok, so
as of right now, i don't know if i'd consider this better or worse than "DAMN.", and i also definitely think there have been better rap albums released this year ("learn 2 swim" & "Melt My Eyez See Your Future" are my top 2 so far). that being said, this album is still a very very good addition to kendrick's discography, in which he gets arguably even more personal than he did on "DAMN." i definitely think some tracks are forgettable, and Kodak definitely doesn't need to be on here, but Keem, Taylour Paige, Sampha and especially Ghostface do great feature work and "United In Grief" & "Mother I Sober" are top-tier Kendrick.
