See, as a Gen Zer, growing up on the radio and only really listening to music from there, everyone saying this song is overplayed means nothing to me. The only thing that gets me is that I feel Kirk doesn’t have much of a contribution to this song or on the other Metallica song I’ve heard, Master of Puppets. I’ll just name the things I didn’t love because that would be a lot easier than going into detail about what makes this album so good. The album falls off in momentum a bit on the quieter moments, like Kanye’s verses on I Am A God and I’m In It, especially after the swelling production on the former and Assassin’s explosive performance on the latter. Not in love with the chorus or initial breakdown. The verses and pre-chorus are great though and the bridge is fairly standard nu-metal (so quite enjoyable in other words).
