This right here is one of the more surprising projects I have listened to this year. I went in thinking Fetty would be doing standard Fetty things but he managed to reach into some bags I was unaware he had. White Roses has become one of my favourite songs of the year and several of these tracks will be making various playlists for the sheer diversity of vibes it has.
This album is a lot of fun. The concept is awesome and executed quite well. While it's a bit of a slog to get through on first listen, going back through enhances the experience a fair amount, so many nuances and aspects I missed and fun little tidbits. Incredible talent behind this in every aspect from instrumentation, arrangement and not to mention an incredible and convincing performance from RAYE herself. I fear I won't return to all of it as a project too often but will be taking ... read more
The unbelievable height to the immediate fumble of this mans quality of work needs to be studied. I get this is an EP so it's probably just a bunch of loose tracks he had laying about but genuinely what happened between 23 and now? He lost his luster. We go back to back talking about the same shit with no growth. This man needs to disappear for a while and work on something decent coz dropping mid on mid is just embarrassing
A fun fucking album. Front to back bangers on this thing with a very poignant theme. Showing, despite public perceptions of sex in music, it can be used in a meaningful as well as fun. Blending it with the dance pop genre adding to the list of great albums that use the accessibility to convey a very important message.
Good lord this thing moves at a break neck pace. Pristine production, great structure and interesting front to back. Took a couple listens for it to fully set in but when this shit clicks it fucks HARD
Solid album from Don Broco once again. I feel like the album kind of loses itself a little in the later half but they managed to cover a lot of ground so I can't complain too much. Fun, interesting and mixed exceptionally! Will probably spin it a fair bit
A nice floaty project that is an all round joy to listen to. So many nice sounds and well structured songs to make for a smooth and easy listening experience. I found this band in my 2022 album experiment and have loved everything I have heard since. Great project to listen to if you need to chill out and relax.
This is a huge step forward from this band. One of the most interesting in the game atm blending Nu-metal, metalcore, Shoegaze and more to make a sound that stands out over the common bands and sounds of the current era. Where the last album was a little all over the place, this felt tight, cohesive and grounded. With each release improving over the last, this band is not to be slept on.
Wage War is back to being interesting. I am sure the sentiment of STIGMA being a disappointment and this being an improvement has been overstated by now but they gave me more substance in this than they did in that last album and this was only 15 minutes. Wage War have been using the same sound since day one and making tweaks to keep it fresh each album which is why I appreciate that they decided to try adding new elements to their sound creating a far more visceral and gritty feel for this EP. ... read more
Once again, Bilmuri delivers an unforgettable series of bangers. An album I keep returning to over and over since release, creating a serious backlog for me to get back through but every time I step away from this project I just want to come back and spin it again. The usual combination of fun songs, hard riffs, nasty tones, insane rhythms and meaningful lyrics without taking itself too seriously. I do think that Bilmuri is a project that has helped me realise, people just aren't having ... read more
Decent EP with solid ideas but I felt like it never fully caught its stride. As I was listening it felt like it almost restarted every song and doing a new intro. I didn’t feel it as much as Young Forever but I don’t think it’s horrible. Might give it a few more listens to see if it settles
This project unfortunately did not click with me. I found it a little scatterbrained and lacking individual qualities. It feels like they want to give you a variety to listen to but aren’t quite committing all the way to each of them and playing it far too safe. Not a bad project by any means as the production is nice and the writing is decent but it really didn’t resonate with me personally.
She don’t miss. Yet another album full of good ass music. Love the direction taken for this project too a little more focused on the dance-y vibes and how fun it all is as a whole while maintaining the underscores level of concept and quality in production and performance. An easily repeatable album that will be in rotation for a good while.
This album is everything I wanted it to be. A perfect combination of fun pop music and poignant topics. Peach blends these together in a very consumable way and you can feel it through her performance. I was lucky enough to see her live and she performed this album in its entirety across the show which really helped with showing the passion in the project. This is what I love to see in my pop albums
I am conflicted. I fear a lot of people are hating due to the state of Kpop at the moment but I can see a lot of their criticisms. I feel like this album stands as their most experimental since they went with a more western sound. A lot more dry sounds and some more interesting production styles as apposed to their usual polished EDM leaning style which made this enjoyable for me in most times. I feel like This album presents the biggest issue with having 7 members and giving them all time. I ... read more
This the type of shit makes you embarrassed that you called yourself a fan. You would think that a band that has been around since 2007 would understand how to mix their music by now. The guitars vary between sounding too far in the background and way too far forward, the snare and kick together sound like a plunger being pulled from the toilet, bass is thin and hollow and the vocals are mixed 3 different ways and none of them fit. The content is cringe as ever and while that's nothing ... read more
A really chill project that unfortunately drags by the end of it. I found myself becoming less and less fond of the voice as well. Otherwise, the production on this thing really carries the experience, so many great choices that make it sound so nice. I will likely return to one or two songs but really this became a more middling experience by the time I reached the end of it's extensive runtime
Solid emo project. Got a bit of everything. Pop Punky songs, Midwest Emo stylings and even some nicer laid back moments. I did think the accent in the first few songs may have gotten to me but it really suits the style and becomes just part of the experience as the album progresses. Produced nicely, performed with passion and a smooth 28 minute run time. No reason not to give it a few spins.
