With the shape of punk to come refused created a masterpiece, punk was never the same after this album, despite not seeing much success when it first released. Almost every track is extremely aggressive, and they're not afraid to take influences from other genres, a trait that was not really present in a lot of hardcore at the time. The first time I heard in utero was about year ago, I had just listened to nevermind a few weeks prior, and I was really digging it, so I gave this album a try. I was disappointed, the melodies sounded so much more basic, the guitars were so annoying, and the production seemed really amateurish. But after listening to a lot more music, learning a lot more about production, and overall, just gaining a greater appreciation for heavy music, I now see that this is one of the best rock albums ever ... read more
@Malneezy, you've made a pretty good album here, it's not perfect, but it has a lot of cool ideas. Every track is unique and memorable, even the ones I don't care for so much were really interesting. It's pretty all over the place, but with a name like wonky odd rhythms and spastic tunes, I get the feeling that's the point, and that kept me really engaged, for the most part. God damn! This is even better than claustrophobia! It's way heavier, and better produced, and mixed, the vocals are way better, the screaming is intense, and the cleans are pretty much immaculate. Also, that blegh got me going crazy. I can't wait to hear the album.

Before Paramore were known as one of the most versatile rock bands in modern music, they were a pop punk band, and a damn good one. Riot may not be as good as this is why, or even brand new eyes, but it has a lot of energy, power with almost every track. FUCK! THE FUCKING NA NA NA'S! THE FUCKING HORNS! THE FUCKING DATED REFERENCES TO THE PANDEMIC THAT HAPPENED THREE FUCKING YEARS AGO! I was really excited for this album, love from the other side was exactly what I wanted, it sounded like Fall Out Boy at their best, but the rest of the album didn't live up to that.
