A fun little vibe. This is sounding like it's gonna be a great album to get some work done to.
It's been a longer wait than most years, but I think we finally have an album that I could see as my AOTY. Absolutely incredible electroclash that you just can't help but scrunch up your face and jump along to. Honestly, even the chiller tracks are head-boppers. And the production throughout is just so damn clean. It's phat when it needs to be but clears up nicely when the song requires. I'll be spinning this many, many more times throughout 2026 and beyond...
Over 30 years since releasing her debut and Robyn is still producing quality music that fits within the current zeitgeist whilst still sounding a bit retro at the same time. Some real bangers here.
"Girlfriend" is not without its flaws, as there are a number of tracks that come and go as completely passable but completely forgettable. Yet, there are also some highlight moments that prove Ives is more that capable of producing something that's quality in every aspect.
At this point, I think Model/Actriz are incapable of missing, regardless of the direction that they take their music in. Would I want a whole LP of music like "Thank You By Dido"? Probably not, as I listen to Model/Actriz for their fucking crazy industrial rock-meets-EBM bangers, but it's nice to see them exploring a few different horizons on this little EP. Also, "Glassman" is absolutely superb.
A nice little EP with a good mix of pop rap and neo-soul. The soul tracks are probably my favourite here. They just give off a really chill vibe. The production quality throughout is also really good. I just wish some of the songs had a little bit more to offer.
Everything in "boneyard aka fearmonger" feels completely masterful -- from the Porter Robinson style idie pop, to Gecs' hyperpop and dubstep wob wobs.
I've never listened to an intimate-sounding hyperpop album before. Hell, I didn't even think it was possible, but here we are. I've been sleeping on Underscores for a very long time, and with how short her third LP is, I knew I couldn't turn it down. And I will be listening to more. This is absolutely gorgeous.
It's really nice to hear Martin doing some more lead vocals. Some of the most underrated CHVRCHES tracks had him on vocals, so I'm excited to hear a full album of this.
Meh. Not much to right home about. The potential is there, but currently it's just a bit bland and uninspired.
Honestly I love how glitchy and beautiful this is. When all of the elements build, you end up with something that's so chaotic, yet absolutely gorgeous at the same time. The production is incredible, the vocals are light yet cut through the chaos incredibly well. The pacing is great. It's just bloody lovely.
One of my earliest memories from from my childhood was listening to 'Strict Machine' on the radio, but there's plenty of other bangers on this album as well. It sounds amazing, is varied from start to finish (jumping effortlessly from trip hop to electropop), and honestly still sounds pretty fresh after 23 years. Definitely glad I finally got round to listening to this album in full – it's been a long time coming.
Aside from a couple of tracks here and there, there isn't much that will make me want to revisit this "okay" debut, especially when Charli has put out much better material in the 13 years since this album dropped. It's not bad by any means, but it is definitely dated compared to some of her more recent material, and there is a fair bit of filler.
One of the most interesting albums I have listened to in a long time. It's fair to say that homogeny is not the aim of the game with "westside trapped" – pulling you from one end of the music spectrum, with big, bombastic drums and catchy rhythms, to beautiful, soulful music that drifts on by. There's no better example of this than the last two tracks, which really couldn't be more different, yet they work so well together.

One day Bebe Rexha will have an idea that's not just interpolating an already perfect song.
I first heard Yonaka when their debut dropped in 2019 and I remember really enjoying it, though I haven't listened to it in a while now. Finally, after nearly 7 years, Yonaka are back with another LP and it's... decent, I suppose. There are some good moments, plenty of "meh" moments, but nothing that particularly stands out as amazing, aside from Theresa's top-notch vocals.
The production is so-so, being passable in most areas, but a bit overdone in others.
Overall, a ... read more
