Already an amazing song but seeing it used in The Boys finale made me appreciate it even more
Remember when Chance The Rapper said “I met Kanye West, I’m never going to fail?” JPEGMAFIA is the first rapper to fail after meeting Kanye.
EVERY SONG SOUNDS THE SAME OH MY GOD 😭😭 It’s like he forgot how to make music that’s both experimental and good
“One Day it Will Be Over” Thank God 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Ironically making the album more about Joe made me feel more disconnected from Joe. Maybe because it feels like I’m hearing the story of a grown man and not a teen anymore.
The thing that made Twin Fantasy (Face to Face) so special is that Will Toledo was incredibly limited in what resources he had available, and he felt he couldn’t create exactly what he envisioned until Face to Face. The issue with this is… what was missing then that you felt you needed now? Why did you ... read more
An objectively amazing album. You can’t hate on this even if you tried. 2 hours of perfection.
I think it’s worth mentioning I cried on first listen to Isn’t She Lovely while on the city bus. It’s that good bruh.
NSB DISCOGRAPHY DIVE ⛄️
Yes, I’m doing like five discography dives at once. Anyways, this is a good debut. It honestly falls off a bit on its second half but man, what an incredible first half. Can’t wait for the next two albums as i’ve heard they’re amazing.
It’s the evil twin of Music Has the Right to Children. Unlike Music Has the Right to Children, this album instead sounds like your repressed childhood trauma. The things you tried to convince yourself never happened.
Being clueless because no one needs you, you need them: In the sense that you’ll live your childhood in guilt by believing the care and love you’re given is earned, not unconditional.
Great project, I just wished songs were more interesting as they went on so the length of the album would be justified. Anyways, to me: this album sounds like being a child and not worrying about what’s going to happen tomorrow.
Being clueless because no one needs you, you need them: In the sense that you live carefree because your responsibilities aren’t really yours.
This is about LSD. It's so obvious. Why are you lying about it not being about LSD, John???
We peaked at the psychedelic sound right here. How did they do it
Jane Remover keeps having my album of the year when they drop, and this is no different. A master class of production. #StatusUpdateMusicSummer
BORIS DISCOGRAPHY DIVE 🐸
I mean, there's not much going on for me to really criticize anything. But that's probably the issue. Track 2 is good, but i'm especially not a fan of track 1. I actually don't hate Merzbow much, and I've been interested in listening to more of his. The thing is, track 1 is genuinely 23 minutes of nothing, which sucks because I know Merzbow can do good noise and Boris can do good drone. Track 3 is fine, I like the fusion of Boris and Merzbow ... read more
BORIS DISCOGRAPHY DIVE 🐸
My pants flooded after this. My god. I probably felt every emotion ever listening to this.
At first, I thought Flood I was some like CIA torture music. Not in a bad way or anything, I just thought “Man, this really needs to pick up its pace.” I don’t think that anymore, far from that. I feel Flood I is genius even. Making something so simple into this crazy drone piece with reverb is something I wish I thought of. Flood II is awesome. Flood III ... read more
Although initially I expected this to be significantly worse than Sgt Peppers, this album is basically as good as its predecessor! My main issue is the mixes though, because they aren’t an issue I can fix by listening in mono. Some parts of songs are too quiet and it ends up making the songs have less of an impact that way, but thankfully I only noticed this on 2-3 tracks.
I’ve heard this multiple times over the years. Every time I’ve heard it, I’ve thought “Yes, this is great. But there’s nothing that tells me to come back to it.” I think it wasn’t until my recent re-listen that it clicked for me. The spacey atmosphere that Pink Floyd perfects goes so well with the albums theme of someone leaving.
