Underworld - Anthology: 1992 - 2012

Pretty good compilation. It's banger after banger, hidden gems mixed with classics in a surprisingly coherent way. Surely one of the best ways to get acquainted with Underworld's music.

Classic album. I mean, what is there not to love about a 22 minute seamless mix of 4 incredible tracks?

I want to start this review by saying that the UK is … not a great place to live.

I mean, the sky is always gray, it rains 20 times a day and their most impactful and well known dish is a literal Fish with Chips on the side. Eventually, people got tired of all the grimness of an average British day and then started to look for things to distract themselves. This led to the development of their immense sports scene and the creation of pub and ... read more

Andy Stott - Never the Right Time

Yeah, it's not his best but it still can pack a punch sometimes, especially in that title track. Underrated

The layering of this track is fucking insane.
Well to be honest everything about it is

Tim Hecker - Virgins

Virgins, for me, is an album in a state of eternal grief.

(Made in commemoration of 300 ratings.)

Seldom has ambient music sounded so crystalline and yet so mournful. It feels as if the piano keys are remnants of a fading musical structure, and the heavy string/synth sections counterpose and break them apart. There is a strong sense of contrast throughout the whole tracklist, moments of light and darkness, life and death, and movement and stagnation.

"Prism," the album's ... read more

“Erm, this piece of doo doo crap is pretty good actually 😎🤓”

Undeniably, this album sucks and everyone knows that, even those who like it. The charm is in the backstory of the band, and being frank, it is in fact very intresting and … weird, but I don’t think good stories carry the quality of the music

Sorry but I cannot gaslight myself into enjoying the horrenodus vocals combined with off-beat drums that drive me near insanity. In the end of day, I listen to ... read more

It’s an amazing project when it comes to atmosphere and layering, but I’m not too keen on all the noise and drones. It’s so loud that I had to listen to it on half volume and I still thought it was hurting my ears.

"Great Review. In the Air is trully stellar"
On clawd's review of Autechre - Confield
"I agree up to a certain extent. The fun of Confield, in my opinion, is the complete dissasociation of "humanity" in Autechre's music. It's an important left turn in their carrer, and for electronic music as a whole, because it shows the limits of how weird yet technical electronic music can be. Even amidst the coldness, there is still some spark of emotion, which makes it such a gripping yet gruelling listen. It is a challenge, just like most moden AE, but a tremendously rewarding one. I hope you give it another chance one day. Great review nevertheless."

"@Normanalee "limited ability of brain" "To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Autechre. The textures are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of music theory, most of the enjoyment of the music will go over a typical listener's head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these warped farts, to realise that they're not just farts- they represent a culture of highly capable and resilient listeners; a TRUE battle of artist and consumer. As a consequence people who dislike Autechre truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate the sheer clusterfuck of masterfully orginal beats that totally do have a glimpse of generative AI. Hideous? Perchance."
