Britpop is a fun listen. It features some of Robbie William's strongest and catchiest songwriting in recent years and really showcases his ear for great pop melodies. The lyrics may not be much to write home about but the full packages are charming, good old-fashioned Robbie Williams pop. Merry and jolly. It has some fun covers and collaborations but a lot of the gems on the album are Robbie originals. It overstays its welcome but that doesn't affect my rating much. It's an improvement over Swings Both Ways.
With the exceptions of 'The Swamp Song' and 'I am the Walrus,' there is no good excuse for why any of these tracks are B-Sides. Hell, there's no good reason why this couldn't have been a proper album instead of a compilation, due to how well the tracks flow together. These songs are some of the best material I've heard yet from Oasis. If it walks and talks like an album...
Nice, solid and consistent. There are no standout tracks or signature Oasis anthems but it's an enjoyable record.
