July 21: ATLiens - Outkast

i didn’t like this as much as the albums that came after it, but that doesn’t mean that it was bad. it’s still outkast, and outkast is good. the production is great, the flows are great, everything is great—they’re really good at blending hip hop and neo soul. but i feel like it’s missing something, and i can’t put a finger on what. maybe it’s just the fact that it didn’t have a “big hit” to hook me from the beginning, but even without one, it’s a solid experience.
