This album is like a psychedelic healing ritual, cleansing your soul by making you face great discomfort, resulting in a spiritually transformative conclusion. Don't be deceived by the super danceable "Exuma, The Obeah Man", for the rest of the record is hallowed ground. "Dambala" sets the course for the rest of the album, featuring reverberated kick drums that hit like a bus and chilling background chants that bring you a step closer to God. A brilliant debut release from the Budos Band. This album showcases the band’s instrumental exploration of Afro centric styles like afrobeat, funk, soul while taking on improvisational approaches inspired from jazz and psychedelic rock. It’s hard to fight the urge to dance when this pack full of funky rhythms and expressive horns is spinning.
