Exuma - Exuma

This album is like a psychedelic healing ritual, cleansing your soul by making you face great discomfort, resulting in a spiritually transformative conclusion. Don't be deceived by the super danceable "Exuma, The Obeah Man", for the rest of the record is hallowed ground. "Dambala" sets the course for the rest of the album, featuring reverberated kick drums that hit like a bus and chilling background chants that bring you a step closer to God. It only gets creepier, with ... read more

Cornelius - Fantasma

Absolute trip of an album. Starting off with that refreshing soda can opening and finishing on the transcendental title track, the album takes you on a psychedelic journey through dynamic electronic arrangements and wacky samples that inject you with curiosity. Fantasma is like the audio equivalent of a kaleidoscope, with such a colourful and spectacular atmosphere. When the album isn't putting you in the front seat of a spacecraft going light years per second, it rewards you with these ... read more

Car Seat Headrest - Teen of Denial: Joe's Story

Various Artists - Eccentric Soul: The Dynamic Label

My favourite release from Numero Group. This compilation features impeccable tracks from Abe Epstein's Dynamic record label. Hearing the music of the artists featured on this album, it's sad to know that their music careers were only short-lived and unrecognised. Numero did a fantastic deed unearthing these works of art and making them accessible. "Cry & Wonder Why", "My Heart Can Feel The Pain" and "Don't Be Afraid To Love Me" are only some of ... read more

The Budos Band - The Budos Band
82

A brilliant debut release from the Budos Band. This album showcases the band’s instrumental exploration of Afro centric styles like afrobeat, funk, soul while taking on improvisational approaches inspired from jazz and psychedelic rock. It’s hard to fight the urge to dance when this pack full of funky rhythms and expressive horns is spinning.
